  1. Very nice work and attention to detail. Just like you did with your previous restorations. Top Notch!
  2. I would like to says Thanks for the replies to my post and the information provided. wdbikemad I would appreciate a copy of the document you have when you get the opportunity to copy and post it some day. Thanks, Robin
  3. I did a search for instructions or a manual but didn't find any such document posted on this site. Does anyone have or know of such an official manual that created for the 95 Pattern PLCE? Thanks, Robin
  4. Clive, Can you tell me what time period it was in service and typically what trucks was it used with? Thanks, Overthere
  5. Hello, I would appreciate if anyone could tell me what trailer model and any details about it's history and uses. Thanks, Overthere
  6. I have a MJ with the turbo Bedford engine and I have a friend who is thinking of getting a Bedford with the Perkins non-turbo engine, would that make it a MK? What he wants to do is tow a flatbed trailer behind with his halftrack on it which would be 15,000 lb (trailer and halftrack combined). I wanted to ask if anyone has experience and/or technical knowledge of how much a non-turbo Perkins engine Bedford would be able to tow? (flatland with a few small hills would be the extent of its travels). Thanks, Robin
  7. Yes, I was thinking along the lines of the American 3 color or the Canadian coloring. I haven't been able to find any pictures where it appears that an In-Service MJ has more than 2 of any color combination. I was hoping that at sometime they did a green, black, brown/sand color scheme as I think that would look good on the MJ. Mine currently has a what I would describe as a grey paint with the doors being black and the other MJ I have here is all sand color. Hopefully someone has pictures of a 3 color MJ. Thanks, Robin
  8. While in Service what color schemes have been used on the Bedford MJ. Did they ever use the NATO 3 color scheme? Thanks, Robin
  9. N.O.S. I would like to know more about the Turner 5 speed box that you refered to earlier. Is it an alternative that can be used replace the stock Bedford MJ 4 speed box? If it is I would be very interested in finding out how available they are and what the cost would be for one. Thanks, Robin
  10. I appreciate everyone who responded to my post about the Bedford MJ cold start system. I feel that I now have a clear understanding of how the system works. This should help with monitoring and repair of the system if needed. Hopefully, not. It is getting colder every day here in Canada and I will be putting this system to the test any time I want to run my MJ between now and sometime in March when the temperature gets above freezing. Thanks, Robin
  11. This is still what is confusing about my original question. I assumed that the cold starting device was fed diesel fuel from the fuel system and that you would have to prime it using the lifter pump if you ran it dry. However, I am assuming that the cold start reservoir is always full as long as the engine has been running and you have not used the system since you last stopped the engine. Now based on the quote I have above from one of the replies to my post you require an aluminum container and the system contains Ether? If someone knows exactly how this system works and what exactly fuels it diesel or ether and how that is achieved, PLEASE clarify for me. Thanks, Robin
  12. Hello, I would like to get some information on the cold start system on the 330 Bedford engine in the MJ. For instance how is it provided fuel, what maintenance does it need, I heard that there is a way to prime it? Any insight into this system would be appreciated. Thanks, Robin
  13. Dan, I can usually get up to 45 - 47 mph and then I get a shaking (about a quarter to half inch left to right) in the steering wheel. However, if you let go of the steering wheel the truck doesn't drift like it would if the alignment was off. I also have the new type tire tread and I am thinking that is the cause of the shaking. I have been on some new pavement that has no wear grooves in it and the steering didn't shimmer at all. So, I am hopng that it is just the new style tire treads gripping the ruts and grooves worn in the roads and at this speed it causes the shaking. If anyone has information otherwise to why the steering shakes at these speeds please let us know. Thanks
  14. Thank You to everyone for the Welcomes to the HMVF Forum. Since joining I have received a lot of great help from the members. It has made my venture into the ownership of a Bedford MJ much easier and enjoyable. Again, Thanks!
  15. Fellows, Thanks for the info and advice from your experience with the TM's. I will be sure to take that all into consideration when deciding on bidding at the auction on Friday. Robin
  16. Hello, I am considering the purchase of a Bedford TM 4X4. Would anyone have electronic copies of Service Manuals for this truck? Also, any advice on what to check when looking at the vehicle before deciding to purchase it? Thanks, Robin
  17. Hello, I would like to ask if anyone can direct me to a good source for up to date service manuals for the Bedford MJ with the 330 turbo diesel? Has anyone come across Bedford MJ service manuals on CD or ready for download on the Internet? Thanks, Robin
  18. Hello, I recently purchased a 1985 Bedford MJ with a 330 turbo diesel engine. I don't have it home yet and have to drive it 800 kms to get it home. I want to do some servicing to it such as filters and fluids before embarking on the drive home. I don't have any service manuals for it yet and hope that I can get some info from the members here. - what are the idle and top-end rpm's for the 330 turbo diesel? - Also, what speed should you be getting at top-end rpm's? - any additional advice on what to check or do in order to prepare the vehicle for such a drive? Thanks, Robin
  19. I wanted to start off on HMVF by first saying "Hello" and that I am glad to have found this forum to join. I recently purchased a 1985 Bedford MJ 4X4 and since I have no experience with this vehicle, I am hoping that the knowledgeable members here will be willing to provide me guidance. I look forward to being part of the HMVF membership and I guess my next post will be over on the " I must be stupid, but" as I have need to fill the void of knowledge I have about Bedford MJ's. Thanks, Robin
