Sorry mate - the video is still flagging a 404 when you click on the link!!
http://www.hotcancer.com/images/BunkerBash2010/BunkerBash2010-026.mov
I forgot the zero  This should work... http://www.hotcancer.com/images/Bunk...sh2010-026.mov
Also looks like the batch resize I left running overnight only half-finished, I'll have another go later...

And the rest:
Many thanks to Lee and the team for a great day

Let's try again with some (smaller!) pics. Had a nice day out, highlights for me were the very tidy CET as I'd not seen one before, and clambering all over Neil's baby

Tou could try Coke that takes off light surface rust.
Coke is just dilute phosphoric acid - you can buy stronger / purer quite easily. Mostly depends on what's to hand, I suspect!
Sodium hydroxide (caustic soda) is supposed to be good for surface-prep of aluminum; not sure what you're supposed to do with the nasty wasteproduct though...?

The last batches of photos posted seem to take for ever to load up. I imagine this is probably the trouble.
Yep, my fault. The forum resizes any large photos that are posted but takes a while to do it, and I hit it with 40 at once Seems OK now though...

Bet that made a hell of a crash when it landed
How do you even roll one like that? Fell off the trailer?

They are lovely beasts, the James Bond-esque missile rack I always found immensely satisfying :-D
Do you find the passenger's missile sights get in the way when you're driving? They look like they stick out a fair way and the Russians never seemed too fussed about the driver's visibility...(driving the Gvozdika is an exercise in neck-craning and clairvoyance as you have a socking great gun barrel in the way!)
What parts in particular are hard to get hold of? I've always fancied one of these as a backstop in case I don't have space for anything tracked...

OT hauliers confirmed pick up at 10:00 Friday. Arrangements made to get Stolly there from the Fort - all going to plan - SO FAR!!
Remind me to badger you for a ride!
That spare (small) crew helmet surfaced during the move but I've lost it again...will bring it along if it turns up...

Second question, im 22 so obviously gained my license after jan 1997, if i bought one and wanted to drive it on the road, am i going to have to sit a bloody HGV course to drive it on a public road?
Have a read of INF52 (link) - if you can't find an exemption in there that applies to you then yes, you will need category C on your licence.
As the Stolly came into service in 1966 you can't use age as an exemption - the one a lot of people here use is 'mobile project vehicles' but you'd need a lawyer to dig through the requirements for that :nut:

But the VAT they charge is tied to the rate for Luxembourg...!

I might have to come and have a word on the 15th then, now I have my licence and all

Congratulations, good luck with the OT
How easy did you find transferring your 432/OT experience to a CVR(T)? They look a bit complex for me :nut:

Well done, it's good when it goes your way For the record I found the Borehamwood office pretty helpful, they just don't give the counter staff much leeway to think for themselves so you're reliant on how keen their management are. At least you've set a precedent for them now!
Next step is to get some nice plates made up and you should be away

Does anyone know offhand what size holes are drilled in the panels? Will need some of those plastic plug things that VW use to hold the door trim on...
I've answered my own question, but for future reference the answer was 4xM6 holes and 4xM8 holes per set of 2 mounts.
I've attached the relevant instruction for the Bedford MJ:
TRUCK, 4 TONNE, 4 X 4, BEDFORD MJ (ALL VARIANTS)
MODIFICATION INSTRUCTION No 20
Sponsor: Publications Authority:
DGES(A) Vehs & Wpns Br REME
Project No: 71712(169)
File ref: 0736/71
SUBJECT: SA80 rifle clip mountings
(12-1819)
Hopefully it will be of interest to some of you!

Was thinking about taking our set out of the Bedford so we can use the parcel shelf, drop me a PM if you want the bits. It won't cost you £100!

Nice pair of SA-11 Gadfly launchers in the background too!(can't see if Fire Dome is fitted) Is that a T-72 next to them?

You could also try Line-X who make a similar product. They were handing out business-card sized blocks of the stuff at DSEI last year and it certainly looked the part! It bent a surprising amount before cracking so it would presumably take a hell of a beating to peel off.

I've been listening in on the guy next to me ringing Lee up, sounds like there's some conspiring going on :cool2::-D

You'd have to have pretty good nerves to want to dance up there, it gets pretty windy and it's a long way up!
Don't forget that the hatch in the roof is composite (think it's GRP) and so not weight-bearing - you'd just crack it and end up in the cab with a broken leg. The checkerplate is only a small section around the outside of the round hatch, so you'd probably want to weld a solid plate onto the frame over the hatch (leaving the hatch on) and then get on top of it from the bed - you can use the 'windows' in the front of the bed as crude steps. Also bear in mind most of them have been overloaded in the past and the checkerplate is unlikely to be flat!

Nick at Tanks a Lot has a challenger1. Bare hull and needs a complete rebuild.
When was that pic taken? I've spent some time flicking back and forth between Chally pics and this one but I can't decide if it's the same one (my UK armour recognition is a bit crap)! If so it's had a new coat of paint
Pic taken Nov 2009.

Framptons are the experts, they have lots of choice of fonts for different eras. Give them a ring, they're really helpful (and did us some beautiful pressed aluminium plates for the MJ). Website link

there are a lot of FV432's about

At least with the 432s they have ample previous history of registering them. Anything more exotic might be a bit harder...
Good to hear the vehicles that have been through the upgrade programs are coming out though - with dieselisation they're much more attractive vehicles.
