  2. Up here in sunny fife

    Diesel Prices

    Cupar Tesco 102.9

    Glenrothes Asda 99.9p

    Morrrisons 99.9p

    Shell 101.9

    BP 104.9

There seems to be a" guess the price" because they go up and down in a daily basis ,

not even on a tanker delivery just random up and down .

But will always remember last year 135.9 at Tescos for diesel , was nearly £300 to fill the patrol, van , and car .

  3.

This is a hobby, folks have hobbies for one reason – pleasure, not pain.

I love this hobby but when that spanner slips off the nut and take's the top off my knuckle there is pain involved

  4. As a relative newcomer to this I just love getting grubby and fixing things , and with older vehicles the challenge to get parts for them , yes its only a humber pig but the hours so far spent on flea bay getting small bits and pieces is huge.

And the things that you learn and pick up on this forum( as I have said in the past )

is priceless and would die out of not passed on.

Just one thing on dress at W&P,my first year last year and couldn't get my head around British people dressed in German uniforms, German in English uniforms and a Italian pipe band . Makes the mind boggle , but as Dave Allen used to say may your god go with you

  5. Well I use petrol , seems to shift most things not very good for skin , but usually re use it after letting it to settle and for a loose oil add 100ml to 900ml of engine oil seems to free most things and taught to me by a old farmer

  6. And a gold star goes to paolob1 , it was a old rubber seal at the top of the filter housing in combination with operator error , yes the banjobolt form the tank was loose but BIG thanks for the pump idea .

And it started and ran for about 10 mins without a hiccup.

So with that one done it's onto the refurb of the master cylinder

  7. Hi all ,me again with daft questions.

I'm having some problems in getting fuel to the carb on my Pig.

Does anyone have a diagram/exploded view of the internals of one .

If I bypass everything tank, fuel filter, and connect onto the pipework going to the carb it draws fuel no problem not a stutter.

As soon as i connect it to the tank, Nothing wont start ,I have recently refubed the tank and filled it with clean fresh fuel , washed out the fuel filter and then refilled the bowl with clean petrol even undid the banjo bolt and cleaned the gauzwe going onto the carb and sucking the fuel up where i think the problem is a HUGE resistance and no fuel .

Anyhelp will be greatly appreciated as always

  8. Most breakdown wagons are classed as car ambulances, so don't need tacho's and plating's (but think things are changing) and always thought that the load sensing valve on the towing vehicle would adjust the brake bias to allow for the increased weight and therefore braking effort needed, so in effect the suspended load became a load on the axle of the towing vehicle ,

As for the linked brakes no idea ?

    Just my opinion

  9. The bubbles lots of them were right through the system , i managed to borrow one of those easy-bleed systems and got 3 liters of brake fluid , just took time , started at the servo and worked back then went back to the start , got a lot of gundge out of the system but before i did it i replaced the pressure switch for the b/ lights before hand , got two from ebay brand new old stock for £7.

  10. Hi all just finished my last wheel and that's the end of the weeping seals.

Now I've got a problem, NO BRAKES, whilst doing each wheel,I disconnected the banjo bolt from the wheel cylinder to get a bit more slack to put the back plate out the road .

On connecting the brake hose again on refitting i opened the bleed nipple, and topped up the brake fluid, allowing it to flow through , moved the pig outside yesterday to clean out the workshop and no brakes , any ideas,

I've bled the whole system including the servo (i think it's the thing above the alternator) the two nipples , and cracked the banjo bolt on the thingy under the middle of the pig that moves when the brakes are pressed(master cylinder possibly) but I've got no feturn on the brake pedal,

Help help help what have i done and will it be expensive??
