came along to the first one with a jeep is it poosible if room to bring a gmc instead throughly enjoyed last time. It would me and one other.

this was our last day so we had to this .started out at 15.00 and back at 18.00 we had bit of numb bums but well worth the paddle.wanted to do this in 1979 on mvcg tour when i was 11 its taken 31 years to do it and it was my fiance idea to go back and kayak the beaches after bringing her here 5 years ago.

Time to reboot these pics for the 70th

paddled here last thursday we have always wanted to see the base of the cliffs shame about the erosion.

Wonder if any one gets here again for picture up date or have I got to go back again.

Its with great sadness to say that i had a call from my ex wife Elaine to say her father George had passed away in the night .i am sure there has to be many members on this forum who remember George from the dorset area mvcg/mvt going right back to the early days i first met george on the first jersey tour when i was eight i am 45 now!! . Our thoughts go to his wife Anne and daughters Erica an Elaine and son stuart .

hi thanks for the info on that guess because tide was in we didnt see original one. no plans to go back so any pics you could take and post would be good .

hi its a post war higgins boat and did belong to a Ian hughes of hughes movie supply on south coast . got to drive our jeep out of it in 2004 for a feature on bbc news also got to have a drive of it out to sea and beach land it !!

gmc breakdown vehicles known as "set no 7"were based on long and short chassis and fitted with a pulley block with a hoisting capacity of 500kg on a monorail. they were tobe used for towing broken down or disabled vehicles. they could also be used for transporting equipment or supplies where the pulley block could be used for loading purposes.

Thanks Jack for a great weekend, unbeknownst to me (Amanda in the Amanda Jane Jeep) i was in the process of passing a kidney stone, which is why David and I had to depart early sunday morning. The experience of taking part in the convoy however helped to dull the pain.Im pleased to say the stone finally passed out on my arrival home. Roll on 2012 and we can do it all again minus the stone!!!

last may we paddled about normandy mullberrys and those on south coast . this year we chose to go to dieppe in see the dieppe raid beaches and local area (The Dieppe raid august 19 1942 ) could not belive the size of the cliffs and how small the beach areas where . Paddling along the coast at different places one been at puys we came across two bunkers which appear to have fallen due to the coastal erosion ,did read that it is 1 mtr a year in these parts !

spotted these two sets set of dragons teeth between haselmere and grayswood on a286 traveled this road many hundreds of times but traveling slower with sons off roader on trailer caught them out of corner of eye said to boys did you see those dragons teeth yeah and havent you seen them before dad ! spoke to my dad about them and he has traveled that road as in trucks many times his answer was carnt say ive noticed them. spec savers for both of us i think .

hi great pics walked past them to defence boom in summer .how long before they get knocked down there was a lot of building work going on and landscaping park.

drove up a byway above goodwood today its south facing so with sun its starting to go still pretty though .

just up from boger regis is aldwick and on the beach is the remains of a beetle and at low tide you can walk around it .it was this part of the coast to selsey that they floated and sunk 50 mulberrys in preperation for d-day and this area was out of bounds. one still can be seen off pagham.

do u mean climbing up the thing of a ladder on the side no my captain wouldnt of let me and its a double kayak and she doesnt do steering so god knows what would of happened if i got off there!! but she does take all the pictures on her mobile phone and there carnt be many fiance"S who like to paddle around concrete chunks in the sea.

Back in september we made use ot the last of the sun i can remember and set out early to Greatstone in kent to paddle out to last phoenix we know about . we arrived at low tide geared up and trotted of down beach for a long walk out to the water with kayak ,knee deep in thick black mud and a lots of crys for help from my fiance amanda we managed to float kayak and paddle out to the mulberry .we then stayed out for the returning tide to take us back over the orrible mud .Hope you think it was worth it for these pics.

hi the only landing craft at locks heath on the hamble beside the m27 was a 1945 lcm which was 57ft long and 16ft wide and had twin detroit diesels had a excavator in it ! got weighed in for scrap about a year go the owner refused many offers to sell it.

this one might be of intrest to clive stevens .stopped of in a small carpark at Greatstones yesterday to use facalities and spotted this nice liitle memorial dedicated to the crew of a b24j which crash landed in to the sea here after bombing v1 launch sites on pas de calais it took a direct hit from an 88 which blew away most of the nose section.

When we were out kayaking around the mulberry at southend the other w/end we spotted this sticking out to sea .when we had packed up we drove round to shoeburyness found a free car park and set off on foot through the old garrison which is now been turned into fancy houses ! we came across the start of what we could see earlier at east beach not knowing what it was i asked the coastel watch officer in his tower who told us it was for managing the shipping in the thames .ok i thought until i found this http://www.gnometech.freeserve.co.uk/html/defence_boom.html yeah its whats left of managing german shipping in 1939 as in u boats !

yes it is planned to go back in a couple of weeks or this w/end and have a paddle around it if tide and weather are ok. there is a locked swing bridge to stop people getting to mirrors but the kids either swim or try to build there own. the countryside warden spent the time we were there hooking out pallets and bits of wood from there last attempt of bridge building but looking at the area around carnt be much else to do! bit bleak in winter i should think.

Not sure if been done before on here but anyway visited here yesterday on a guided tour by a DR Richard Scarth with 170 other people !A bit further inland than we have been visiting but we were still surrounded by water as these three sound mirrors are on a island in the middle of a disused gravel pit.They were part of an early warning system and built between 1928 and 1930 to be part of a chain around the south east but made redundunt in 1935 by the coming of radar . the first one 20ft the second 30ft and third 200ft by 26ft and this one had a range of 35miles on a quite still day !
