  1. Thanks Chris and Mogmaner, I don't think it is an MA675 as its not 9m tall however your suggestions have pointed me in the right dirrection as I see Racal list an MA1381, 7.3m, fiberglass mast which would equate to the 24' of this one. Now to find out what it was used for....

  2. Thanks Ian, the outside of mine are not fluted but otherwise they sound similar, one thing that puzzles me is that both mast kits have the same stay sets but there are a strange mix of lengths so you only have two pairs of stays the same length in each mast.

    As promised, pictures

  3. Someone very kindly gave me two radio masts at the weekend, I assumed at first that they were 5.4 mt type but further inspection shows they very definitely aren't. Each mast consists of 8 fiberglass sections, 36 ins long (not including spigots), 3 pegs, a round metal base, a selection of stay lines, a halyard, 2 stay plates and a cleat all contained in a very neat canvas carrying case . Ring any bells with anyone? Ive googled various NSNs on components and got nothing more useful back than "mast section" and "stay" so frustrated in that direction. The fact that the sections are apparently an imperial length and the carrying case is canvas as opposed to plastic may mean it predates the clansman era.

Pictures to follow when I have the opportunity.

  4. What are these?

Image number 4, the orange thing. It has written on it 'Open this and rear cap before use'! I have no idea what this is!

This would appear to be the door on the front of a Larkspur C11 transmitter, they were meant to be kept closed when the set was not being used.

  5. "Back up to Sible this morning for a bit more work on the Militant. Checked the cab - and yes - the bloody spiders are back!! Got to find a way of banishing them - at least from the cab!!"

I've had my lightweight for over ten years, its my daily driver, and every morning I get in and remove the same cobweb from between the steering column and the windscreen:mad:. Not sure if its me or the spider that owns that truck, mind you the spider doesn't pay the tax.....

  6. Ive been going for 4 years now, Ive always thoroughly enjoyed myself every one is very friendly and there is a fun atmosphere. It started out quite small but has been getting bigger and better every year, with all eras and types of MVs represented.

  9. Could help with all that info. Whereabouts are you? If you're near enough you are welcome to come and measure ours - we've even got an almost complete set of fittings and body furniture for a D11 you could measure up. Short of that , pm your e mail address and I'll forward some piccies

  10. Hello folks I need some help with my K9 wireless body. the body last had a D11 R230 installation which has been completely stripped out at some point, I now have a completely empty body which I am in the process of re-lining with new hardboard.

First question, can anybody let me have details of the hardboard panel configuration, I can see that there was a hrizontal join at the level of the bottom of the windows from paint residue on the frame., but the rest is not clear.

Second does anyone have pictures or construction details of the battery/stowage locker in the nearside rear corner.

Third, I am going to make up a repro radio table but although the general layout can be worked out from the various radio instalation manuals I have seen the details of its construction are not clear would anyone be able to supply pics or a scketch please?

Finally, anyone got any pics or drawings of the hatch/canvas tube between the body and the cab?

I know its a bit of a list but any help gratefully recived......

    Thanks

  11. I have been approached by a representative of the WMRAC (http://www.wmrac.com/) for help in locating a series 1 Landrover. The WMRAC in association with Mission Motorsport are sponsoring a scheme to re-train injured ex-servicemen and women as vehicle mechanics. As part of this the WMRAC are hoping to provide a suitable Series 1 Landrover to be fully restored by a group of these ex-servicemen, and which will then be sold at a charity auction to provide funds for further training. If anyone knows of a suitable vehicle can they please let me know, condition is not a huge factor but clearly it has to be a feasible restoration project.

    Thanks
