  1. Whilst on lockdown like many others I have taken to doing some sorting and tidying. Over the years I have been a keen collector of Commer, Hillman and Ford literature and I am trying to catalogue it all now we can't go out too much.

I found these Commer Superpoise Handbooks, what I would give to have the real thing to go with them!!

I will keep looking and see what other handbooks of interest come up, I do know I have WD Minx and Tilly literature.

  2. I have our Minx in the garage so that's ok to move out to show on the drive but the bigger Hillman is down the other end of the village in a lock-up that is packed full so its very its awkward getting her in and out of there.

My youngest and I made this for our VE Display.

  3. This is our 1937 Hillman 80. She is an enclosed drive limousine, has the wind down division and occasional seats. These were mainly used by Whitehall and the services during the war.

She has been used in many films and we have ferried round dignitaries at WW2 events. She is totally original and she will be kept that way.

  4. I took 20 years to find the correct grill for one of my cars, eventually I found one in New Zealand and it cost more to ship it over than it cost buying it!

Keep looking, an engine is out there somewhere and it will be worth it in the end. Very much worth it.

  5. Rush Green have been having a major clearout in the last 12 months. Much of the older stuff has sadly been cut up and is now gone forever.

I have a few friends that have bought from there and although the prices are high they argue that the parts were so rare where else could they find them?

  6. I am a new member to the forum. We have a 1947 Hillman Minx, the phase 1 model introduced in 39/40.

If you need any advice or photos etc let me know if I can help. I also have quite a large library of manuals etc that I can copy.

  7. Hello Everyone,

I have viewed the forum for quite a while now as a guest but have now took the opportunity to join and hopefully have an input.

I have been restoring vehicles now for a number of years and focus mainly on Commer and Hillman models but appreciate and follow many other manufacturers.

I have a keen interest in military history, we attend many 1940s events as a family and as a hobby I collect wartime Royal Navy uniforms. My son who is a primary school also has taken a keen interest so of course I plan to nurture this, his preference would be to restore a tank or half track though!

I have a few interesting vehicles in my collection but would like to expand that at some point to having a military Commer or Hillman.

Of main interest to the forum would be the 1937 Hillman 80 limousine that I have, this is the type used by Whitehall throughout the war and used by figures such as Neville Chamberlain. I also have a 1947 Hillman Minx Phase 1, this is the 1940 model that was reintroduced into production after the war. Many were used as staff cars. Lastly I have a 1937 Ford 10hp that was originally owned by a chap who served in the RAF.

I look forward to being part of such a interesting group.

    Kevin.
