The destruction of this Cheiftain wasn't an isolated incident - a number of them were destroyed - I have seen another three that had been destroyed by a helicopter attack.
-
That was a lot of "residual fuel" - he did move fast.
The landing gear seems to be another expensive part of the aircraft - if you look a large number of salvage aircraft have had their landing gear removed and are elevated on wooden pallets - they had even used the same technique on something as big as a 747-400.
-
They all seem to have been captured relatively in-tact (bar the missing engines) - great picture.
I also looked at the second link and saw the CVRT - you have to love the jump leads wrapped around the smoke dischargers.
There is also a video of one of the Iranian Cheiftain MK5's being hit - the engine deck is a sea of fire - 2 crew members jump out leaving the driver still going. (I won't post a direct link as I don't know if all crew escaped un-harmed).
-
I like the link - especially the Concords.
There was a program on Channel 5 this week about a Digger Rental Company - someone hired one of their bigger bits of kit to rip up a 737. They quoted the engines as being worth 1 million each - but the actual value of the high grade aluminium was only £30k - strange.
-
I didn't see a 432 - I will have a look back on catch-up.
The same company appears to own the "Diggerland" attractions throughout the country.
I am looking forward to next weeks episode - I can't believe he put that mast through his Window!
-
I believe this series has already been aired on Satellite (Discovery Channel UK) - saying that, Channel 5 are putting on some great documentaries at the moment.
I like the format of Eddie Stobart - Trucks and Trailers, they have used the same format to create a documentary about a Digger Rental Company - which was interesting.

Happy Birthday Adrian!

Welcome to the community Gareth.
It would be nice to see a few pictures of your vehicles when you have a chance.
You should easily be able to upload images to the forums.
Cheers,
Joel

Welcome Steve,
Are you ready to take the plunge and purchase a MV?
What type of heavy recovery are you interested in?
Cheers,
Joel

Hello Community,
Top Gear (The Motoring Magazine) had Ross Noble as a guest, he revealed he owned an Abbot SPG.
Which is not only road legal - but congestion charge free.Anyone else see it?
Cheers,
Joel

I really enjoyed that video - it seems a great deal more manoeuvrable than a Chieftain ARV.
I wasn't aware of the REME Museum until this thread - it seems like an amazing collection.

I read about Salisbury been without phones and broadband - didn't know it was due to thieves.
I used to work within Salisbury as IT Support - I am glad I wasn't there that day .
I use the ISP that is BT - my friend uses Virgin Media.
The quality of support offered by Virgin Media is a great deal better than BT - however, my friend had a great deal of problems with the actual service delivered by Virgin Media - mainly at peak times - in general the load balancing on BT seems to be a great deal better.
-
I dare say the recovery costs (if you could get permission to salvage) would be prohibitively expensive and it would probably be cheaper to simply purchase a Sherman.
-
Oh no! I thought as much.
R.I.P.
Maybe your account of the vehicles movements before the crash could be of some use to the investigating officer, the contact number is in my first post.

A 48-year-old man has died after a crash on the M20 last night saw the vehicle he was travelling in overturn and both him and his passenger thrown from it.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which took place at around 9.50pm on the London-bound section of the M20 at Sellindge, near junction 10, on Sunday.
A Ford jeep hit a Luton van and overturned, with the 48-year-old and his passenger thrown out. The passenger of the jeep is described as being in a serious condition in hospital.
One man has been arrested by police in connection to the incident.
Now Kent Police's Serious Collision Unit want to hear from anyone who may have seen the incident take place. They should call 01622 798538.

Hello Community,
I am curious as to whether anyone has converted a MV into a camper, that they then take to shows?
I was looking for some pictures just to give me an idea.
Cheers,
Joel

I love a good restoration story.
Are you going to strip-down and rebuild the engine?

Mark the DDPM body armour - is that just a cover or does it still have its inner?

I have had experience with the show, I went down with the Tank Museum when they took their Leopard there in 2008:
It was a good event, as you can see from the photo's there was a large turn out then - its a shame not as many people went.
Cheers,
Joel

Exactly what I needed - Cheers Andy.

Hello Community,
I am compiling a list of military driving experience days, I am wondering if you can assist me.
For example: Tanks Alot - The Tank Museum.
Many Thanks,
Joel

Hello Robin,
Thanks for your information, I was after details about the vehicles handling - which you have discussed above. Seems it would be prudent to practice off-road with someone that knows what they are doing before taking the vehicle on the road.
Thanks for your assistance & the Images,
Joel

I think they do still use them - however, they are heavily upgraded - different engine - gearbox - up armoured. This variant is called the Mobarez Tank - see information here.
EDIT: They also appear to still use a modified version of the Scorpion - also modified called the Tosan.
Cheers,
Joel
