I have only just caught up with this thread, I have one of the devices you done a link for on ebay and it works fine with xp and vista the one I have has got 2 usb connectors and you need to have both plugged in for it to work properly (thats what i found anyway) if the computer is not detecting anyharddrives you plug into this I would check to see if the drivers for the usb port is working fine (if a printer or other device works) then the usb ports on the pc works fine the other reason could be depending on which service pack you have on the machine, as i have found that if you have still got sp1 they that might well be the problem if you have sp2 then should work fine the other thing you could try is if you have another hardrive with xp on for instance have that connected to the USB device and then boot the pc with the other harddrive and see if the pc will boot as this works for me. other than that you should not need to touch anything in the bios.

hope this helps (sorry if this has already been covered)

  2. The bummer is that we are expecting a shipment via UPS.

Not another order of Pathfinder Magazine. So i suppose your the culprit 1st notifing the DVLA of change of owner/ SORN for the Mans Truck and 2nd ordering the supplies for the clubhouse to be delivered by UPS.

  3. Thanks for that Jack I will keep an eye on that one as well. I expect it won't be the first and last only one that will come to me with this problem.

I would do what woa2 has done if not expecting a parcel from UPS then delete it (but i don't think the DVLA have our email addresses as they have never asked me for one so i will delete it when i see that email).

I know what i will be doing tonight i will be checking the computers in the clubhouse IT room to see if anyone has been ordering parts or registering their vehicle with the DVLA.

Don't worry your not the only one who has had this as I am a pc engineer i have got a customers machine in with the same problem. (doing scans as I type this so it might be worth being aware).

  5. would be rude not to go as east grinstead is very close, ferret should be road legal by then.

griff66 You will be more than welcome to attend if you know of anyone else please fill free to pass on the details and get them to contact me (i can send you pm with contact details if required). 6. Hi all

Thanks for all the comments its a 1977 109 FFR I have had someone look at the landy yesterday(who knows about vehicle electrics and we have found it is a wiring problem). As all the other lights work and we have no power going from the indicator arm to the Hella box, we have tested the arm and it does work so we know the wiring is the problem which we will be sorting out the next week or so (depending on the weather).

Thanks again all for you ideas.

  7. Yep I would swap the fuses around first and see if the indicators comes on and something else goes off then it will be fuse.

Do the hazard lights work? Do the windscreen wipers work as the wipers are running off the same fuse.

Mind you still check the fuses as or swap them around as the first option.

    If not a fuse

It is not uncommon for Land Rovers to have bad earths due to corrosion.

There could be 2 flasher units, hence I asked if the hazards are working, if not one. The if you have to get behind the dash, be careful screwing it back in as some bright spark (pun intended) designed the main loom so that it runs in the channel behind the dash. The dash screws work against the loom and at that point there is no fused protection so a screw in the loom results in the loom melting, smoke, fire, etc etc.

Hopefully its a fuse. One of those 24v electrical check pens are very useful at this point.

    Mike

Yes the Hazards lights do work and the wipers, Thats why i thought it must of been a fuse (also i did'nt know if they were on the same relay or not)

Thanks i will try that aswell and see what it was.

  8. Hi All

As the thread says I have a problem with the indicators on the landy and I need to sort it out as it needs to be moved in a couple of weeks and I need to get them working, (I don't even have the clicking noise when activated) would this be a fuse or the relay if its a fuse which one is it in the fusebox (only 1 of 4) are they all the same ampage (as the operating manual says they are 35amps and what do the other fuses work and would they all be 35 amp or are they diffrent amps.

PLease note that you are talking to a complete novice when it comes to electronics on a vehicle (so the easier you can make it the better).:thanx:

  11. For those of you who know me and know how persistant I am, I thought I would just post a message just as a gentle reminder that for those of you who are interested in attending don't forget to get your forms in for the 27th March (The way the times flying at the moment it will soon be here). If you require a form the please fill free to go to this link and download one http//www.sussexmvt.co.uk/Martellsentryform.pdf or send me a PM with your address and I will put one in the post.

Anyone on here who does not know anything about the event and wishes to attend here is some info about it

This is the 2nd year of running this successful event it will be held at Martell's department Store, Queens Road, East Grinstead, West Sussex on the 24th April 2010 we have at present The Royal British Legion and H4H charity stall coming (both confirmed) and hopefully some veterens also trying to get the Mayor to open the show their will also be FREE tea & coffee for ALL exhibitors and passengers through out the day. As this is all on hard standing anyone wishing to stay over night will have to have a vehicle to stay in all vehicles tracked and otherwise welcome so is uniforms.

As there is not much space it is advisable to send in the form so we can work out where everything is going. Late entries will be welcome BUT please contact me first so check space etc.

One extra note that if anyone wishes to attend with a tracked or other vehicle on a low loader this is ok as Martell's have a secure compound which will be locked. (about a mile from the shop) that the vehicles can be unloaded and then driven to the shop for more info let me know.

Sorry to keep harping on about this but i would like to make this show better that last year if poss and as the event is in April it will be a nice start to the show season.

    Thanks:thanx:

  12. According to some website you can wear a poppy upto the 11th November others are saying that after 11am on the 11th it must be removed but I think it should be worn at anytime on the 11th November.

I have found this on a website if it helps (from a canadian site as most british sites don't say)

    When is a Poppy worn?

Traditionally, the Poppy is worn during the Remembrance period, which is from the last Friday in October to the end of the day on 11 November.

Poppies may also be worn at other commemorative events throughout the year, such as the Battle of the Atlantic , the Battle of Britain, a memorial service, at a Legion Convention and other similar occasions.

The Poppy may also be worn by Colour Parties when on parade and by members attending funeral services for veterans or Ordinary members.

  13. Was their on Sunday as the Sussex area of the MVT had a coach trip to the musuem. very enjoyable day out will go again. As we were the only coach party there they opened the WW1 Mk4 tank and the cheiftain so we could sit inside we also got a tour, unfortunatly the would'nt let any of use have the keys or show us the starting proceeder for the chieftain as many of us wanted to bring it home. The coach driver didn't want to tow it even thought he had decided on one of the white Mark 2 ferrets there which he said would just fit in the lockers on the coach.

  14. After going to Bovi at the weekend I have to say the tanks for me would be

    1 Chieftain

    2 Challenger

    3 Comet

as it was the first time I had been to bovi I enjoyed the day as it was a sussex mvt area coach trip and they even open the MK4 and the chieftain for us to be able to sit in and we were very well looked after and one place I will go to again.

First of all welcome to the forum.

I don't know of many events happening this time of year at present but if you want to keep an eye on the events page of the Sussex MVT (www.sussexmvt.co.uk) as all the local events that we have been told about are on their and are updated regulary (as i am the one who updates the events) you will be more than welcome to come along to any of them.
