  1. So...... I had to many projects and this sat for a while... Eileen decided she wants to have it for W+P and I was issued with a warning order. I modified the frame and got a gifted fabricator to make the Bonnet and Baskets.
  2. Hi all I'm starting a new project and will have it ready for W+P This is the Chassis Ihad made two years ago....... and then got busy on other projects

  4. hi all, Can anyone help. I've been working on the Engine rebuild, I'm missing... wait for it......wait for it... One head bolt a source for the old old pressure pipes..... the rubber ones, 3, all different lengths and with different fittings at either ends. and can anyone tell why I have two head bolts that are longer than the others? thanks

  8. Hi all, I had to take some time off for a Wedding, My Daughter.So now I can start to play again.. I have limited space in my Sheds, hence the Saracen project is suspended til better weather. I had to remove a dividing wall plenty of room now
  9. Got the steering working Rams are supposed to be evenly adjusted One has no thread showing, other has an inch. the one with an inch (left hs ) wheels are slightly toe in RHS no threads, wheels are facing way in.
  10. Ok so tomorrow Grease all points Start Engine and test steering 1/ moves ok 2/ If stiff, loosen ball joint coupling on each end of steering, test. If not any better 3/ Disconnect outer ball joints and check movement on either side of vehicle If still no good....... Then remove all wheel stations and replace with new one's, Have Dinner
  11. This is where it cracked The whole assembly tries to move when I try to turn the steering ( Engine not running)
  12. Thanks to some advice from Richard I now have gears. However, having sorted one thing, I moved on.... I reassembled the steering and tried to turn it WITHOUT the Engine running, but with all 4 front wheels raised off the ground. Really hard to move and then the housing creaked and broke where I had got it welded. Now, do I have a problem in the steering gear or the internal steering assembley?

High all Was running the Salute Show in Dublin last week Worked my ass off to get the Saracen ready Started engine no drive Gear change pedal doe's not appear to work, dos'nt feel right. refurbished box Was i supposed to release something inside? Fox gives different pedal return heights for different gears, no change in Saracen at this time... Again help please
  15. Hi All and Richard Can you help? Oil in Gearbox is? Same in Transfer box? Fluid in Hydraulic Reservoir is? Oil in Bevel Boxes is? My manuals say " fill with appropriate fluid" Thanks ps exactly right, Richard
  16. Found a picture before the cleaning its the pipe running forward along the hull wall, you can see the open end..
  17. Hi all Urgent Got the Engine in ok, Small problem, !/from the front of the compressor head there is a heavy rubber flexible pipe, about 8 inches long. It's has a metal fitting on the end, female connector. It appears to run directly towards the front of the vehicle. also i've a left over part 2/FV 121544, pipe assembley, tyre pump to filter .......Were do'es this go? Do these parts connect? HELP sean

  19. Got the gearbox out In a very sad state Water had got in though missing studs in the top plate Had to make that special tool, good job i have a welder.
  20. Busy weekend, again I was told the reg on her was an RAF number... someone has been telling me porkies.... Not for the first time... Its out, thanks in part, to advice given by forum members and a 434 hiab QUESTION; How many spanners can you hide under a Saracen Engine? in this case ......... 4 ( all 1/2 inch and 7/16 ) and a screwdriver and 2 gallons of Oil
  21. One or two But there are faces in them... The Saxon is hidden and complete , very much a prototype.. No WW11 stuff Lovely, just out of the Shop, still had all the tags on internal parts Other side , facing the firing point.

  23. Ok, Stripped this much, I need to know whats next? Is it safe to open hydraulic pipes? to change this broken part..
