  1. Hi Matt, so have you got transport sorted? If not I can give you the details of the transport company I ended up using for the K4, he is based in Oswestrey and charged £250 for each item/load.

  2. Hi Mick + Richard, I'll be taking the K4, SWB + Quad Polsten + Russell in his Jeep, we could meet you at Croydon, Richard whats the average Mph you do in the Militant?

When we go in convoy with the Jeep we do 40max  , we put the slowest vehicle at the front and the fastest ones at the back so they can't speed off  , so in theory it would be:

    Militant

    FH 70

    Jeep

    K4

    Quad Polsten

    lwb

    Swb

    Ferret

    Ferret

That would be quite a site

  3. Hi, Ive been looking around and this is what you can get,

    l069a1429rw.th.jpg

    283.9 sq m (3,056 sq ft) Hangar/Storage.

New Lease/Licence For Term To Be Agreed.

    Guide Rent: £6,500 pa

These hangers a fairly big any bigger and you'll be talking T2 size and big £££, this particular hanger is a WW2 Robin hanger (which has a WW2 Fiarchild aircraft based in it), based on the same airfeild where I worked until July 05, we could fit 2 big Twins and 5 Single engined aircraft in our hanger which was smaller,.

Talking about Duxford for a mo, I dont think anyone could build any more hanger type bulidings on their site, due to lack of space, as all the land to the front, side and the feild behind (military vehicle exibitors camping feild) the Land Warfare Hall is used as parking (aswell as other parts of the site) on airshow days, and anyone that has been to one of their airshows recently will tell you they pack them like Sardines as it is,

also the new Airspace hanger formally The Superhanger, has taken up more carparking space, so as it is Duxford themselfs cant bulid anything bigger than a shed let alone anyone else :( .

  4. Hi, working off Richard here, I reacon that The East Of England Tank Museum (http://www.tankmuseum.com), Duxford or Beloir castle(http://www.belvoircastle.com), one of these shows would be the best place to have a big meet, as their fairly big shows, fairly central and have their own attractions.

Duxford has the ease of access (A1,A14,M11 etc),

East Of England Tank Museum has a purely Military Vehicle Museum,

and Beloir castle has the veiws.

  5. Hi Mick and Richard, Ive been concentrating on booking shows and preping the vehicles that Ive completely forgot about the club stuff  ,

but while Ive been booking shows Ive found loads of contacts etc, Ive found over 50 shows so far and thats mainly around my area so thats not too bad. Also Ive been finding out about storage for local club members as that could be a big pull for prospective members, I am running on the basis that preperation is key, E.G. if the club is advertised/opened too soon it could flop due to rushing things, saying that though I cant see why it wont be up and running by the show season  ,

Aims: If I my be so bold (the same as most clubs) ,

Provide a welcoming meeting place for likeminded people.

Encorage more people to get into the hobby.

    Any other surgestions always welcome.

    Thanks.

  6. Hi Mick, its coming along at ok just not fast enough for me  , I am concentrating on the brake system at the moment so it can go to Duxford's show this year, I think the Auxilary engine is a single cylinder Wisconson, 4 stroke, electric start.

    Thanks.

  7. Hi, mainly done odd jobs lately, the loadbed + other woodwork has been fully sanded down,

    Before:

    After: (4 hours later)

    DSC01837.jpg

Once the loadbed is painted the rest of the lorry will be sanded and painted, the wood for the Dropsides is on order (hardwood+pressure treated).

Can anyone tell me what colour the inside of the cab would have been painted?

This is what it looks like now:

    DSC01702.jpg

Also would all of the chassis, drivetrain etc have been painted OD also?

At the moment they are painted gloss black.

    Thanks.

  8. Hi, Ive got some more Q's mainly markings related, so here goes,

Also Ive seen a few wartime/show pics of push bikes hanging off trucks was this fairly common?

Refering to the above Q, what origin would the bikes have been e.g. civi or mil?

Did all/most trucks etc have their TP (Tyre Pressures) stenciled on the mudguards?

My Austin K4 has the ringed allied star painted on the roof, would it need a star painting on both sides of the truck, or was this only done on front line vehicles?

Relating to the above Q, if a obsrevation ring was fitted to the roof of the truck where would the ringed allied star go, would it have been moved to one side of the roof or would it have been moved to the bonnet?

Would fuel tanks have had their capacity/fuel type etc stenciled onto them?

I have seen Antifreeze type/capacity + date stenciled onto the bonnets of GMC's but was it comman and was it also done on British trucks?

Were all wartime British vehicles fitted with fire extinguishers?

    Thanks.

    Tyler.
