  1. In order to spare the MV world from a hideous bodge, can anyone tell me where I can get hold of a Bridging plate for my Bedford?
  2. I have what I'd discribe as a large hatchet head that's spare, it's certainly old enough.
  3. Thanks for the sound advice. I'm thinking I will buy a Bren gun box and convert it into a kind of mobile gun cabinet that I can discreetly bolt down in the truck.
  4. Thanks folks, I was going to discreetly chain them in place when not being held.
  5. I'm about to start my first season as HMV owner and am unsure about whether I can carry my deactivated rifles etc at shows like the War and Peace. I'm currently refitting the rifle holders to my vehicle and they will obviously look better with something in them. Can I do this legally? Obviously they will be covered or boxed while on the way to events.
  6. I've started changing the oils in my Bedford MW for the first time and have noticed that the differential oil is much thicker than the gearbox oil. The drivers manual says that they should be the same viscosity but this is clearly not what I have. What would you folks recommend? 80/90 or something thicker? If thicker, then what are the disadvantages?
  7. I have this canvas panel that is 7' long and 3'3" high. Before I cut it up to make seat covers I thought I ought to try and find out what it's for. Anyone got any thoughts?
  8. What is the best way to secure a vehicle that doesn't have an ignition key (or windows!)and has an easily accessible wiring loom? ls some kind of mechanical lock the way to go? If so, what do folks suggest?
  9. Well......7 or 2 but hopefully a 7. having never done a military show before, this year will be my first season with the MW if all goes well. It's there to be used, climbed all over and generally enjoyed so hopefully a 7.
  10. £7.50 on Amazon......bargain! Thanks Ron 😊
  11. Ron, that's absolutely fantastic and just the sort of information I've been looking for. Can I ask where you found it?
  12. Any thoughts on the stencilled anchor motif? I've seen it in a circle and not in a circle but I don't know if that's significant.
  13. Thanks for that, just registered with Mapleleafup so that I can open all of the links.
  14. Could anyone give me some guidance on the way that the Royal Navy would have marked vehicles that they used ashore in Europe during WW2? So far I have seen a couple of examples with a four or five digit number followed by the letters "RN" but also two four digits with RN in the middle. I'm not sure which is correct. I have also seen at least one vehicle with an anchor symbol stencilled on in white. Is this correct for all RN vehicles or were other markings used? I thought I'd throw myself at the collective mercy of the great and good on this forum as I'm struggling to find much information on this. Thanks folks!
  15. Cool, I'm really looking forward to getting the old girl sorted and ready for next season. It will be fun to learn from some like minded people.
  16. Hi Richard , I'm at Greatstone near New Romney.
  17. Hi folks, thought I'd do the decent thing and say hello. I've just bought a Bedford MWD Aero-screen which arrives tomorrow so no doubt I will be asking for lots of advice in the very near future. The vehicle is a runner but needs a little work. The intention is to take it to local events and get involved in a little reenactment. I will be aiming to keep things as authentic as is practicable but I'm not a rivet counter. The vehicle will not be restored to showroom condition but will be maintained and kept roadworthy in a condition commensurate with a 1938 Bedford that had survived till 1944! I'm looking forward to getting to know who's who and what's what . Best wishes John
