  2. Hello to all.Great to be included in this forum!I was looking around the web for info on a recent perchase of a military vehicle my wife thought was cute!! and found HMVF!Once i got it home, I realised that somethin old, rare (for the UK) and military is quite dificult to get to grips with for even the most basic maintenance requirements. So without hoping to sound too one sided, was looking to see who knows what about the original 1950's Mowags. This place seems a mine of information, so some good advice (hopefully not to tell me not to buy it, its too late!) and an eye on local event to attend in it would be great!Looking forward to many happy years hopfully of sub 40 mph travel in something you dont see every day!Cheers Charge (Just thought, my avatar was started 20 years ago on turbo/super 'charging' forums. Now I guess its is more CHARGE as we go over the hill!!)
    ?...

I think mowag is swiss.....with dodge engine ?

  3. Well,

I went out yesterday and started getting the WC63 ready for a Military show coming up this weekend.

I keep a floating charger on it, keep the tank filled, and use Marine / Ethanol gas treatment.

Pulled the choke all the way out, set the throttle cable about 1/3 of the way out, turn the key on and pushed the foot starter, and the old thing started right up.

I pushed the choke in, and the throttle in, and let it run for a couple minutes, it set and idled smooth. That was after it setting since Nov. 6th.

Very please with it. I hope the rest of the year goes as well......

  5. Thinking of biding on this.

Anyone more knowledgeable than me on Jeeps (which is pretty much all of you, I imagine) have an opinion on whether it's worth the estimate and likely to reach it?

    Thanks.

not nice...tires not rite...freewheel hubs..bits missing..far better to go milweb..more choice and mostly cheaper than this one
  6.

Another so called "authentic restored Jeep".at a prestige auction, oh dear where does one start with the list of obvious incorrect parts, think this Jeep was on Ebay for ages, it has CJ wheels, oversize tyres, CJ bonnet, looks like its got a CJ T90 gearbox, M38 rear lights, wrong windscreen and made up inner screen frame, CJ steering wheel, made up A frame, M38 seats? theyre sure not MB seats, wonder what the engine is?.....what a load of rubbish the auctioneers description is, no doubt someone will pay through the nose for it
what about the aerial and BRACKET ? its olive drab, SURELY that's correct ? LOL
  7. Tank is ready and waiting for you Howard just say when your man's coming. When I did my 12 cab I was fortunate to have rolls of black bituminous cork strip that I bought from Wally Wheatly (Nordian) years ago. The cork strip was for 13 cabs the 12's and late 11's seem to use bituminous cork, rubber, and bituminous canvas strip early 11's appear to be all rubber.

If the joints are sealed as per factory the cabs are fairly squeak and rattle proof if the strip isn't used the squeaking/grinding creaking will drive you mad :nut:

I took the asbestos motor linings out, made new staples from wire fitted them and bent them over so that from the cab it looked correct then impact bonded modern high insulation board to the inside of the panels. I can't now remember the name something like 'Asbestos Lux' it's used in boilers and cookers it's the correct thickness looks like the original and more importantly stops you cooking in the cab and burning your self on the engine side covers.

Nice job Howard look forward to seeing the finished job

    Pete

NORDIAN... great company ...had a few great days out down there !
  8. Hi all

have you seen the latest edition of classic military vehicle !!! there's an article on pages 51-57 entitled "MUNGA FOR THE MASSES" (all good for raising the profile of our favourite little runabout!!!)

oh and you may notice the modern Munga pics are of a certain F91/8 reg No EOL 890 C taken a year ago at W&PR 2014!!!

so here's some more... from this year!! only four Mungas in total in abundance at this years show... that I saw anyway .. including one dead one for resto!!!..and my own!!!!

A wiring fault on the way home (just 10 miles away too!!) caused the starter ballast circuit to operate all the time on 24V instead of 12V and burnt out all three sets of points!!! apart from that she behaved faultlessly and handled everything good old RAF Westerhanger could chuck at us (another storm on que on the Friday!!) just like last year!! turning the "dust bowl" in to a fun quagmire once again)!!!!

looking forward to next year already!!!!!

    yours is looking cool !

  10. Hi Alex

good to hear your getting some more done!!! look forward to seeing some more pics!!!

I'm sure someone on here would know how to find out how many are registered with DVLA!!???... but they only have records for sorn or on the road vehicles...mine was unregistered and so to the DVLA it didn't exist !!!! until early this year!!! must still be a few more unregistered examples about sitting in farmers fields or hiding in barns!!!.... one replacement engine munga on eBay today I see.... and he also says there's a choice of two !!!!!! doesn't specify if there both F91/4 as the pics!!:undecided:

l know where theres one , and ive got it! we are in london so with yours and austro s thats 3 we know of for sure !!!
