Looks like a 27' Larkspur era mast.

Having a sort out and came across this one,it has been overpainted so no nsn visible and is the same size as Larkspur trays(one of the reasons i have it)it has four Barry mounts on the underside and looks as though the arms on the swing out clamps are for tightening in the absence of a spanner?and why the pin on the clamp plate facing outwards or am i barking up the wrong tree.

For Sale is my unique 1967 ex-military Series IIa FFR 109 Land Rover. It was used as a development vehicle for the Rapier missile system and carried the ‘Special Project’ military registration mark of 00 SP 53. Because of this, it does not have the usual wear and tear you would expect on a service vehicle of this age and I suspect it spent most of its time at the BAE factory during the trials. It originally had some bracketry fitted to the rear seat-bases (all retained and included in the sale) which were designed to carry missiles even though its data plate states Fire Unit Rover Project Vehicle.

It has a current MOT certificate that is valid until June and from memory it has around 46,000 miles on the clock (which was rebuilt by speedy cables). It is tax exempt due to its age and retains all of its original military fittings which include: radio table, battery box, ops seats, standard wiring, side arms for the aerials, Nato (which is wired and working) and Warner plug sockets for a trailer (which was common during this transition period), shovel and pickaxe to the rear tailgate, original mirrors, indicator stalk and SLR rifle clips. The only things that have been changed are: the door tops, windscreen frame and glass (the original is included in the sale), a civilian distributor and plugs (again, the originals are included in the sale) and for safety, the headlights have been changed to halogen but the original bowls and bezels have been retained.

The sale will also include the radios, tele-printer (all in working order and will be checked again before you collect), cables, trays, atu's, spare paper and tape for the printer together with my stock of vehicle spares which include light lenses, charge panel, indicator stalks, centre exhaust section, road spring (new) two brand new genuine LR fuel tanks along with many other useful odds and ends. I would also include all the documents and photograph relating to this vehicle ie. Tax discs, MOT’s, re-build photographs etc.

Known minor problems, which I am unable to deal with due to poor health: a slight blow from the joint between the exhaust downpipe / exhaust manifold and the transfer box has an oil leak, but I will include the oil seal to rectify this.

An Australian SLR with early spec deactivation C. 14/09/95 so cocks, dry fires and can be field stripped. It comes with both wood and ABS furniture, inert ammunition, two magazines (one 20 round and one 30 round), a sling and bayonet,bfa,cleaning kit.

Parking on the side of the road, I've fitted an simple keyed ignition switch in the ignition circuit.

 

if left for longer periods I remove the steering wheel

 

if longer still, I remove the rotor arm, battery, and sometimes one or two the wheels to be stored elsewhere

Some parts of Essex you will get the wheels removed for you if you leave it too long!

The guys do have colour coded tags on them to denote length but still an embuggerance,for a dipole i would use the mast but for the end fed as well?only reason behind it i can see is that the fibreglass does flex a bit and with a dipole the steeper angle will help to restrain it but i have had mine up a few times and never managed to get it vertical yet.

Right here is the guy line setup and to be honest i cant be arssed scanning again as everything is packed away,i know what happened i saw the pictures in the folder and thought i will clear that lot out not knowing it deletes them from the thread.

Thats from the a14 user handbook dtd1966 and i will scan the relevant page and post later although probably the same as the small Clansman masts.

Sorry to hear of your problems and i hope that you get some sort of redress.

Owned this for some 17 years and is showing about 41k miles which i think is genuine,valve seats replaced along with core plugs etc all welding done with a waterproof canvas,radio table fitted,Some photos of rebuild along with build and despatch details from LR,data plate is intact and shows fire control unit,this was one of about 10 under this contract No and was used for the Rapier missle system project and is in surpisingly good condition for its previous use with a nice rear tub and untrampled wings/bonnet etc and has always been garaged.

A good selection of spares will come with it including spare charge panel,brake master reservoir,brake shoes,light lenses etc etc,further details on request along with pictures available and will be at WPR from Monday 18th,we can haggle over price and requirements of all the other gear to go with it if not wanted,£10k ono and subject to what you want.

Well having read this thread and looked at the organisers facetwatter page the question of the £10 fee has not been answered,given that they say they are interested in MV's i thought they could have come on here and explained the reasoning behind it but i am coming to the conclusion as others are that this is turning into purely a money making event,here's hoping we get a reply.

Those six pin jobbies definitely look like Larkspur harness cables. And yes, the BNC cable is worth saving but you may have to cut a couple of inches off the open end if it's been left anywhere damp. BNC connectors are readily available and pretty easy to fit.

 

Your right about the Larkspur cable although both ends are not the same,its a audio extension lead(well thats what i use it for)

I didn't see them either. Or hear anybody licensed on site despite spending four days monitoring and putting out calls on 3615 and 51.70. Zilch responses.

No inter-G on 40m but I did manage a presence on the VMARS 80m USB net using a 1/4 wave vertical on a 8m mast.

 

Johnsons had the usual pile of redundant Clansman and it was amusing to see the "ambitious" prices being asked for rusty WS19s. There were a couple of Larkspur set carriers at a reasonable price for sale in Kitcheners Field but not much else of that era around.

Well i must have been doing alternating shifts with you,same freqs and zero response,have to agree about the 19 set prices when they are not exactly rare and the stall holders did not want to haggle but i did manage to pick up some Larkspur power leads and a psu to set lead but not a clue what one!

Heard a rumour that the racecourse is needed as an alternative to operation stack.....just saying.

The locals don't want houses on the site so i am sure they will be over the moon at the prospect of hundreds of fridge trailers running.

And how the back currently looks after a bit of a de-clutter lol.

C13 looks like its missing the atu,Ae current meter,the small box that stores the counterpoise along with the stake,think someone else said about J1 boxes,power distribution box/stop trays etc,remember that iirc without getting paperwork out a special lead is used fron the c13 aerial socket with a red band.

Looking at the picture to be strictly correct you would have the HF aerial on the n/s side arm and the c42 atu on the o/s/f wing,if i get a chance i will look at my sets and paperwork but i know it's buried someplace after decorating but thats a long story.

ps are you still interested in that mast?

Lets just hope the Gendamerie are aware of this can you not see the rows with them when you get a tug at a paege and they try stinging you for not carrying it,of course the dvla would have told there counterparts about it...

Our son had a rtc on the 12th Dec and was laid up high on morphine for 3 days in hospital and when released was cared for by us,we reported the accident to the insurers on the 12th dec only to get a snotogram from them xmas eve saying they will not meet the other parties possible claim as the accident was not reported within 24 hours!they were taken aback when i pointed out what had happened and more so when i told them we already had an appointment from there loss adjuster,clowns.

This may a more common thing than you realise as i have had our renewal invite for house insurance and that has the 24 hour crap written into it,as you say happy to take your cash but God forbid if you make a claim,btw the insurer was NOT CN.
