In my much younger days in the 1950s the locals at Lydd were allowed a more or less free access to most areas of the camp and as my father was a member of the local coast guard at the time we often were allowed out through the ranges. One section accessable through the camp only was known to the locals as the Midrips and i often went there with the old man and what i do remember was a light tank and a mobile anti aircraft gun situated on the edge of the road that had been used for targets. in later years i now realise they were of Italian origen i think a M40? tank and a Fiat or Lancia with a 90 mm gun all gone down the melting pot now but what a find if they were still there today

I take it by airfix kit you mean the old Matchbox now Revell kit of the 980/981. It can be altered to represent the Blackpool wrecker you want to model which does have a shorter bonnet and also different shaped mudguards but you can buy a resin kit of the wrecker in 1/76 from Convoy models based at Hastings in Sussex i think they have a web site but not sure also in white metal BW models from Aberdeenshire produce models of the hard and soft top kits numbers bw231 and bw237 the web site is www.bwmodels.co.uk

Excellent, all that WW2 stuff in post war livery and to my amazement a austin K6 with crane still serving in 1955. My knowledge on computers is next to useless so if any one can link the two and create them onto a disc i would be most grateful all cost met
thanks

This photo appeared in the January 2007 issue of classic military vehicles, i have been unable to find out more on this conversion on the CDSW so need now to look further afield. It would seem to be some sort of wireless or communication body and i am certain no production run occured and if it did it would have been very limited, any ideas out there
