The W&P organizers ought to be getting a bit worried then.... If fuel goes on climbing in price a lot of the owners of the heavy stuff won't be able to afford the low-loaders!!
I not quite sure about that, if you can afford to purchase, maintain and store a 'heavy vehicle' I guess anything tracked like a 432 or anything over CCKW size, then the extra 10-30p per litre fuel rise, by W&P wouldn't hurt that much would it?
I'd have thought (with my limited experience in such things) would be the least expensive outlay?
Obviously feel free to correct Mr Naive:angel:(Me)

Wow:shocked:
An excellent thread, its great to see how these range wrecks are bought back to life with lots of welding and fabrication.
I just hope one day I may learn some of the skills to restore something alot smaller and alot less tracked:cool2:(WC52).
Do you know any of the service history of the M10?
Thanks for another great thread,
Luke

Yep, they're driving around in a 'German' M24 Chaffee.

Saw an Army FV430 Driver Training Vehicle whilst in Bere Regis at 1200.

is it me, or is the mag getting thinner! yet the price is not! :shocked:Quite, it's now £4 an issue for 84 pages including front and back covers.
4.7p per page is rather pricey, I wonder what there circulation is, it must be pretty high and with the amount of adverts in it too! Is the price justified?
I have skipped a few issues this last year because of that reason alone.
I like the small editorials each month - " I can only apologise in retrospect for the need to pass on unavoidable cost increases that couldn't be absorbed in other ways."
I thought inflation had fallen over the last year and the price of oil had too?

Thanks Adrian
, read that during the North African campaign tank interiors were painted white, so that timeframe fits.
-
I was informed (and still believe) some time ago that British built tank interiors - Cromwell/Churchill etc. were a silver/aluminuium colour.
Someone else on another forum says it can be white too, does anyone know for sure?
Cheers,
Luke

What about this US Army Korean War M4A3E8 in a Tiger scheme.
Link added next post down

A BATUS Trial scheme IIRC.

Nice acquisition there, I've always liked MUTTs, too scared to drive one though - I'd probably roll it!
Looks to be quite a challenging restoration, rusted to buggary in lots of places.
Looking forward to seeing lots more progress and piccies.

Not just us copying the Yanks BDU patterns is it?

Also in the 70's SQN's were wearing hairy mary's battledress uniform. My dad joined in 1980 and was issued with HM's. Got pots of them buttons at SQN how rare valuable are they?
-
The air cadet unfirom hasn't changed very much since the 1970s. I joined in 1989 and since that time, the jumper has changed twice, from V neck to horrible fluffy round neck, and back to V neck (!) and the shirts have become slightly darker than they used to be, I believe they are the same as issued to the RN.
VR(T) Officers used to be issued the iconic Trenchcoat, (which I think looked especially solemn on remembrance parades etc.) to the crap looking General Service Jacket, which is more or less good for nothing!
GP jackets seem fine to me, I've been wearing one for nigh-on 3 years now. Current sqn night working blues dress for a cadet is round neck fluffy wool jumper in blue, new light weight-ish trousers in blue and a very dark blue shirt different to RN shirts.

Ahhh Kingston Mauward, good pictures and don't drink Tanglefoot its ruddy awful stuff!

Very nice work there and kudos on the tyres. The old Italeri kit builds up quite well.
Shame it isn't an Airfix kit, "Just Like The Real Thing".
-
Very good modelling there! I assume I'm right in saying thats the Italeri kit? How will you source the Kleber tyres?

I'll bet it was worth it!:cool2:
It certainly looked good on the Thursday when I saw it.
How many laps of the arena did you do, lots of rev's and gunning it also - higher fuel consumption.
I do think that W&P, should definately be subsidising the larger (tracked and wheeled) 'showstopper vehicles. After all thats what pulls in 'Joe Public'.
