Look for the old style "transfers" that you float off and apply as per the model kits. I get my transfers from the VMCC, which seem to be good quality. They cover a huge range of machines.

Getting back to the original post, I regretfully did not renew by sub for CMV due to my own opinion that the quality had markedly dropped off after the last change of editor. I commented at the time that CMV seemed to be just going through the motions to just about pass muster and keep at least some punters paying up.

I am still looking for a sound running WW2 Willys or Ford; prefer a British one, but US service OK too. Would like to buy from a reasonably local (to Kent) fellow MV enthusiast and prepared to pay a fair price. Ring Fergus on 01223 339288 or PM.

Never had a problem with it affecting plastic inserts. As to damp and mould, best prevention is maintaining dry and well ventilated conditions. I have used low energy electric greenhouse heaters inside cab and load area to maintain a dry atmosphere when storing in a non-heated area.......or even outside. These do not heat up the air to any discernible degree, just enough to dispel damp and condensation on metal and canvas and they cost about the same to run as a couple of lightbulbs.

Don't waste your money......go to somewhere like B&Q and buy a large tin/tub of silicon brick sealer or weatherproofer which does the job just fine at a fraction of the cost of Fabseal, etc..

Has anyone got any recommendations for a book (preferably still in print) that is useful for the aspiring or new Willys/Ford Jeep owner? I have Ren Bernier's "WWII Jeep Guidebook" but that is quite US oriented, although still quite useful, except the photos are a bit murky. Something that covers Jeeps in British service as well would be good as it is useful to know what mods were done on these and what to look for, markings, etc..

After checking out the RLC website, they state that they dont hold "B" records (whatever they are) for post 1989 vehicles. Certainly when I enterd my L/R army rego number, it drew a blank on the search form. So where can you go? Polite answers only, please!

Photos? Well here is the official W&P motorcycle display that was located about 300 yards from anything else where the fairground used to be.......and holding half a dozen British WW2 motorcycles and, for some reason, a line up of speedway bikes.....and an RAF grocery pedal cycle......possibly also an SAS assault unicycle?

And this IS the fairground area looking over to more expanses of WW2 grass, spoiled a bit by a scattering of those naughty scammers' green vehicles......

I forgot to add that among the stalls, there appeared to be even more of them this year selling Nazi-ana.......not the ones selling WW2 German military stuff, but those selling Nazi junk that is at best in really bad taste and at worst highly disturbing and offensive. Can't the organisers weed out this rubbish? It reflects really badly on the whole military scene.

I had a good look round today and at a rough guess, the take up of stalls, vehicles and re-enactors was 60 to 70% of last year with large expanses of bare grass most noticeable in the post war vehicle display area......see photo. Kitcheners seemed fairly busy so I presume those with caravans and campers got displaced there. The much vaunted motorcycle display area was very thin and for some unknown reason, there was a line up of speedway bikes next to WW2 military bikes! I spoke to a couple of people who had wanted to display a bike there but were put off because the area was isolated and unmanned........bike parts are EXPENSIVE and easily nicked, not to mention the motorcycles. No Welcome Pack on arrival.....no vehicle identity tags, so presumably no judging of vehicles? No plaque to take away. I found it underwhelming but I am sure lots of folk enjoyed themselves and the weather and ground conditions have been ideal......too hot? The stalls seemed VERY quiet indeed and it seemed a lot of

the regulars had cut back on size and offering? In summary, I suspect newcomers to the show will be happy.......old stagers less so.

Or even better, save that weekend for "Combined Ops" at Headcorn in Kent, that just gets better and better each year.

Sometimes it is not practical to get a tank welded up, say if the corrosion is in an awkward place, or maybe because its been patched and it is a bit fragile.....weeping seams, etc.. I think in this case, using a sealer is justifiable and from what I have heard so far, the new generation sealers do work.
