  1. I myself am also looking for Illustrated Parts Manuals for both Narrow Track and Wide Track trailers. Is it possible for someone to email them to me please? We are looking at some rebuilds for a scouting 4x4 group in Dorset and having the manuals would help get the scouts involved with the projects. My email address is lee.hancox@cabbagemechanic.co.uk Many thanks in advance.
  2. Evening, Basically I am coming to the end of my refreshing of a Sankey Field Kitchen Trailer and find myself needing a few parts. However I can not for the life of me think what they would be called which is an integral part to finding them in the first place. So does aybody know what these are called? They are used to secure certain parts of the trailer into position e.g. racks. Any help would be very much appreciated.
  3. Negotiations are currently ongoing as there is a pre 1971 Mini Van involved too. Thanks for all the info though and I do believe his story about being ex-mod etc. as he said that after buying it there were no reg plates etc. and he had to register it with the number now on it. Chassis is good nick too and don't know if this makes any difference but it was still painted in an eggshell blue type colour minus the off putting colour of oxide orange.
  4. Ivor, that is a truly informative reply and with that in mind I will try and find out some more info. I doubt its a ringer as this guy has alsorts if military type items that seem to backup his claims about the origin of this vehicle. Really decent old fella actually that has come to his 8th decade of life and just wants to start sorting out his belongings before as he said he dies. I will be back with more info and questions no doubt. Thanks again.
  5. Need a little help and expertise please. I have been offered something that I don't know much about and due to its age am unsure of whether it would be a sensible purchase. I am told that it is a 1949 - Series 1 80" that spent its life in the army and eventually ended up being used as a recovery vehicle for a garage in or around 1969/1970. take a look and tell me anything you can about it please as this is really my field. Appreciate your input.
  6. Thought I would drop by with a little update. Managed to get everything sorted ref. Track Rod and ends and on the final push of my rebuild. I know its not quite authentic but I am trying to keep with the military theme whilst adding a little me at the same time. Need to find a bigger camo net though as the one I have is too small. Sadly being made redundant pays rubbish.
  7. For anyone in the future that might find themselves completing a similar fitting here is a list of the parts needed so far :- RRC2666 Steering Arm x 1 RRC2667 Land Rover adjuster tube x 1 RRC4221 LH HD Balljoint x 1 RRC 4222 RH HD Balljoint x 1 Tube Clamps The above items will give you the full track rod assembly. As for Propshaft it seems that a 23" closed double cardan front prop is needed to fit from R380 Transfer box to Salisbury front axle. Other configurations as in an L230 Transfer box may require different prop length but I have no reference point for that.
  8. Thanks so far. Here's the limited Withams description Land Rover Salisbury Front Axle Assembly 110HD/130 complete with Differential, Casing, disc brakes, Callipers etc. it came preserved and stamped with refurbished by Abro on a plate on top of diff casing. Just checked and the axle has 24L00953 C stamped on the tube. I have bought this item on fleabay http://www.ebay.ie/itm/271411595439 and took a chance on being able to do something with it. However on reflection I think I wasted my money and will instead refurbish it and sell it on. As for needing a special tool, what was this used for? I am guessing it locks up the box so the retaining nut can be removed. Blooming nightmare this has been :red:
  9. Not sure what It came off as it was a crated version from Withams. The axle is currently fitted minus springs, shocks and steering rod and seems to sit nicely although haven't tried it under weight due to the previous items not being fitted yet. Are there any identifying marks on the axle that would help?
  10. Hmmmm.. Love!! Sometimes at least yes but more times Nooooooooooo :nut:
  11. Need a little help please. I have fitted a Salisbury Front axle to my 300tdi 110 Landrover. This has left me with many problems like propshaft not fitting and steering arm not fitting due to diff length So I thought that I would try and sort one problem out by sourcing a RRC2666 Steering Arm and fit the balljoints from my old steering arm ...... Not Happening as they are hugely different. So can anyone tell me which balljoints I need to fit and possibly the part no.s for future reference. Which end goes where would also be a help too before my ever decreasing braincells implode.
  12. Evening/Morning depending on when you read this, The names Lee/Cabbage Mechanic and I am Landrover 110 Preservation Expert or at least my Landy likes to think I am. I don't own it, it owns me. Had it for some years now and been through several preservation attempts but alas all failed. Now I am undertaking a preservation task that would rival the Mary Rose herself. So stripped Landy, Cut off entire rear section of chassis and rewelded a new Puma half chassis to my 300tdi front half. Many things inbetween have been undertaken but now finishing off with a Nato Green paintjob to go with my Sankey Field Kitchen trailer (Hence the Cabbage Mechanic) which is to be used as part of an events catering business. Popped by for a little help on one part of the 110 Preservation order. Work in progress >>>>>>>>>>
