  1. Hi Clive

Yes it is a flap and it is only on that side.

as far as i know it has the standard 'Dexion' inside, all wiring is present.

It was originaly a LHD but has been changed to RHD.

The last owner was ex Royal Marines and the FFR has got the RM dagger sticker on it ,it also has small Red Cross stickers on and stencils for 42CMDO.

I have been to 42 Commando in Plymouth and a long serving member of the civy staff (and ex RM) did not remember the Reg No, and he also said it was probably not RM as not extra work had been done to it.

If you can help in any way i would be very greatfull.

  2. I went into one of my local tyre dealers the other day and there on the shelf

was a set of 4 7.50 x 16 tyres with the same pattern as Goodyear extragrips

these were Flamingo tyres the only difference i could see was the name ,the lack of diamond patterns on the side wall and a moulding ring around the wall

    and all for £50 each!!

  3. As with the other posts Clive, this is all in preparation for the arrival of an Ambulance that a friend is getting,

He will be ordering it this week from Blanchards so he hopes we will be able to pick it up in September.

I will be helping with all the minor servicing etc,

So i am trying to get as much info as possible (as i am trying to do with my series 3 FFR , but i have not had so much luck with that one!!)

  4. Sorry we are on the Ambulance front again!!!

does anyone know if there is a site where i can download the manual for the series 3 Ambulance?

i have found most of the others but can only find this one in Dutch

(and cant understand a word of it :?

    Thanks

  5.

They decided to pull out of that one

The bloke was going to get a quote on the replacement of the 3 outriggers that i found holes in, he got back to them and said the MOT place over the road have checked it ouit and there is nothing wrong with them,

when i looked at it i didn't have a hammer to test for rust with so i used a 5inch bolt and had a tap around, needless to say the outriggers did not 'ring' when hit so i tapped a bit harder and guess what i found?????

just to make sure it was not forgotten i made some pretty hefty marks on the outriggers and chassis in the area of dammage, so if anyone in the Plymouth area trys to sell you a series 2a Ambulance with a lot of new underseal near the outriggers and no sign of new ones DONT BUY IT!!!

    Ian

PS they are going to order one from Blanchards.

  6. From what i could see and hit with a large bolt!!! (forgot hammer)

the rear Xmember has been fixed...a fairly substantial piece of steel has been welded the full length of the xmember on the rear and underside, this has been welded all round and not just inch....gap....inch....gap etc.

as for being messed about with, the back has been used as a store ,there are no stretchers but it has not been touched inside (all original places) it even has 3 of the brass fire extinguishers in the back.

the engine ,by the look of it has done very little work as it is still the blue (recon)engine colour.

the other alternative for my friend is to get a S111 from Blanchards it would cost more but there would be no work to do.

  10. Hi all

does anyone know where i can get a copy of the CES document

    No 33591

    for Land Rover FFR 1980.

    Thanks

    Ian

  11. Hi Andy

The FFR is already at Steve and Sheila 's place down here,

on the L/H side the seat belt is an enertia one and the R/H side is a hand adjustable one

also if you look at the footwell on the left it looks like it may have been blanked out (its not the same as the other GS)

    Chris

    Thanks for the info!

is it possible to get coppies of CES's ?

if it is where do i start looking ?

so i can see what the L/R had.

    thanks again

at the moment we have no log book but the BL vin plate gives a number of.........LBCAH2AA113746

    does this mean anything?

    Military vin plate reads........

    LHD,24 Volt Rover Series 3

    Serial No LBCAH2AA113746

    Reg No 66HG56

    CON No FVE 22A/115/9

    CES No 33591

    CODE No 1720-5778

Wht info does CES No 33591 give us???

  13. Hi Andy

Since our last phone conversation, Helen has paid the money and Bill Bock

is going to move it next week

there is a full set of seats (the previous owner has them and is going to send them on)

we only have 1 battery (and that is suspect)

How can you tell if it is a civvie hard top ?

there are bolt holes on the wings where the ATU boxes were and also the flaps are on the wings behind the ATU posistion.

the interesting thing is that the military vin plate says it is a 24v

land rover s3 3/4 ton 4x4 LHD (but it is RHD)

    have you any photos?

    Ian
