I'd love a big Scammell too- Pioneer, Explorer or Constructor, I'm not fussy:-D
But a Matador is the number 1 choice, and it's almost sensible compared... You are only young once after all. Seems a better use of my money than widdling it up the wall like most folks my age seem to, that or on flash cars. And it's probably a safer investment than putting it in the bank, I'm unlikely to lose much should I have to sell it a few years down the line anyway- ignoring running and maintenance costs of course, but that's a small price to pay for the enjoyment factor methinks.
Rambling now, s' bedtime!
ramble on all u like mate nice to meet some one of my age group with the the same views and interests personly i cant see y so many kids our age just piss it up the wall on drink . when we can go to shows and have twice the fun and end up in the beer tent anyway ,lol hope to catch u around at some shows maybee if u can drag yourself away from all that uni work

Ask me this time next year... yours is a very nice example, just what I'd be looking for- but I'm still a skint student at the moment, s' dependent on me getting a halfway decent graduate job. Want to get one sooner rather than later, before buying houses, settling down and real life in general gets in the way.
What is the "going rate" these days for a useable, roadworthy example? Don't want perfection, I'd never use it if it was and could never afford it anyway.
ahh reminds me of when i was your age , well it was only 2 years ago . now i own an explorer of my own the wanting for the vehical of your choice will only get worse the more time u spend on the forum so i of hope to see u on here alot lol

Nick, the pump squirts a lot of cooled/warmed oil on the worm in two places and a smaller amount to lube the pump gears and thrust bearing.
but how is this done on the pioneer? we could do with a pioneer parts manual to make a comparsion . any one got one ?

For Sale.....Scammell explorer will swap for road worthy AEC militant Recovery truck:)
just because u think u are safe form the scammell mafia a top that mountain of yours doesent mean we wont come up there and beat u with a rubber hose. :-D your explorer seems to had a very hard life tho rob its about time someone loved her maybee your not sleeping with her enough, leaving her out in the cold all the time
now getting back to this pump ok so the pump dose not work in reverse and the pioneer dosent have a pump at all ! and there are stories of explorers running round with no oil pump ! so dose the explorer only have an oil pump to circulate the oil through the heat exchanger to keep it cool or warm depending on climmate . ?

great pics there alan keep them couming

Ahhh....When you press it in there should be a dull click as the controll rack shoots to the end ( full fuel position) you are now ready to start.
The pump is always in the full power position with the engine stopped as there is no vacume to pull the pump back. Try pressing the button then pull the stop leaver back to see if the button pops up. if not make sure you have a bit of slack in your stop cable to alow the rack to travel further. This could also explane what i think is a lack of "go" from your engine. My pump was gummed up when i got mine so i removed the side plate and spanked the controll rack back and forth and gobed loads of diesel into each end. If you push the button with the plate removed you should see the rack move a bit further. you have to make sure the rack goes full travel of you will be down on power. These pumps are very easy to adjust and also to tweek to give more power but is any one thing is out of adjustment it can slow things right down. Oh make sure the throttle flap is full open and not beyond full open (starting to close again) The size of the throttle body on the manifold limits the overall tp speed. I'll try to get a film of my engine starting and running if it will help. Whats your max engine revs on the clock with no load?
thanks rob i will have to investegat this pump further i have had the side plate off before and eveything is free moveing in there so it might be the stop when i push the button with engine stopp ed it just pops back up
mine only starts like this in cold weather normaly it starts fine but a vid or some pics would help alot rob thanks
-
glad it is inspirs u rob now get back to work :-D
no that was without cold start i normaly wind it over on the decompersor a few times but i didant do it that time .
the cold start button ontop of my pump confuess me . how the hell do u get it too stay in or do u have to have some one hold it it ?
