  1. :cool2::cool2::cool2::rofl::rofl::rofl:Thats it for tonight, dawn raid on the bank tomo...today then up to the farm. 'Night all.

Is that another cryptic clue as to where this Matador is heading :-D:cool2::rofl:

  2. Ahh, Thanks for that Smithy. Helps to place the vehicle and maybe track down the old owners.

No probs mate. I would say that it is Dorset judging by the ground the vehicles are standing on and also the land behind them rises up in the picture as it does where the commercials stand.

  3. An interesting read to go with the pictures as well. I heard about the problems the 25 pounders encountered back at Portsmouth whilst we were in France. At the time we wondered why it was taking them so long to get through.

It's also sporting a nice new glossy front and back cover as well for this issue.

  4. I thought it was but was just making sure. It's loacted at Leitrim & Cavan Railway in Ireland and they apparently have some other stuff in there too. Anyone ever been?

  5. My dad sent me this picture he had sent to him (ignore the fire engine), just wondering what you think that is lurking in the background? Looks like a Pig to me and after I zoomed in a couple of times I could just make out UN on the door I think.

  6. Yes my scammell is located near barrow football ground

I thought it may have been Barrow as it looked like their old style floodlights (bit sad I know but I've been there and there aren't many more in Cumbria :-D)

Just going off topic slightly but do you know if those two old wreckers are still in a field at Milnthorpe? As from what I can remember we drove past them on the main road from the motorway.

  7. Yes, 4pm was one of the the posted times we had, 3 was the other we'd seen. We turned up at 4(ish). Seem to recall just some period civvy cars lined up on the street and a few MVs in the 'arena' in front of the museum. From what I remember I think it set off a bit late - French wasn't it! and I think we had decided we'd missed it when suddenly things started happening. The bulk of the vehicles were lurking out of sight on the beach. You didnt miss much, just loads of jeeps and dodges, my mate reckons the best bit in the parade were the snare drummers in the band :-D

Oh right we did see a couple of vehicles in the square and there was also a singer on stage. But after about 30 minutes we decided that the parade must have already taken place. As we were walking back to the car though there were some vehicles who came into the town but we had already seen these at Bayeux in the 3pm parade.

  8. These were taken Sunday afternoon mainly during the vehicle parade organised by, I am told, the local MV club. Plus a few additional shots of veterans who were around, some poseurs and the (good)pipe band.

I have to say I am disappointed that the parade through a town liberated by the British was mainly of US vehicles with US occupants.. Nothing against them, but I would have thought for such an important occasion the effort could have been made to be, as I see it, more appropriate/relevant. Just a bit more of re-writing of history. It did seem that some of the French had a problem identifying with the British side of things. No problem being a Yank, loadsa problems being British. But then again am I really surprised?

Some good pictures there No Signals. Just wondering what time did this parade take place? As we arrived there just after 4 when it was supposed to start (according to CMV) but there were only a couple of vehicles around and it looked as if the parade had already gone.

PS. Would have replied to this earlier but have been away on hols :-D

  9. Have been lucky enough to see the BoBMF fly past again today and once again it proved its worth. We live about 20 miles away from RAF Cosford and with the air show taking place this weekend it means the turning circles often come close to us.

Saw the BoBMF do a few laps as well as the Vulcan before the lanc flew home over us. Great stuff :-D

  10. I guess those with transport vehicles like GMC's and Ambulances etc were very popular in the rain provided they had a good canvas on them as somewhere to pass the time with suddenly made Friends.

Sure would have been handy as at times the rain was horrendous as shown by the pictures below of the Bayeux vehicle parade on the Sunday. (I know they aren’t the best pictures but just want to give you an idea of what it was like at times.)

  11. Since we have been doing the week long stays there,we have always used saturday as our last day. In fairness the organisers should reduce the entrance fee on the sunday,as most prepare to leave.

Cheers LB. Pretty much like at Dorset then, where last year they did reduce the price on the last day.

  12. watching the chaos of people trying to leave GDSF if one of the highlights of the show. last year loads of people made the effort to leave on the Saturday morning, before it stopped raining, just to provide this display.....

It sure is croc, plus you get the best photo opportunities as stuff has moved out of the way. The thing I'm worries about is paying to come in at W&P and it not being a full day, we don't have to worry about this at GDSF being an exhibitor we always stop until the Monday anyway.

  13. I have been to the show a few times before but I'm just wondering what is the show like on the Sunday. This may sound daft but I'm thinking that I might only be able to make the Sunday if I come down and going from experince of what The Great Dorset Steam Fair is like on a Sunday I don't want it to be a waste of time.

Does everything start to leave early or does stuff stay until later on or even the Monday?
