  1. "Experiment 3: It has been observed in films such as Conan the Barbarian and Red Sonja, that the less clothing a subject wears, the less likely they are to be hit by ranged and hand-to-hand weaponry. This experiment will see if the effect carries to the vehicle, negating the need for armour."

  2. Bad news - we failed - this time!!

Luck of the draw - I got the new trainee when my ticket number came up who had to go and look it all up/ring DVLA Swansea. He's told me that all DVLA offices now have a copy of a memo advising a change in the Law, retrospective to last year, saying that NOTHING over 2.55m can be registered for road use in the UK since last year. :argh: :argh:

I've just found this link on the DFT website (scroll down for vehicle dimensions).

    http://www.dft.gov.uk/pgr/roads/vehicles/vssafety/importsapproval/howtoimportyourvehicleperman4559?page=2

Maximum dimensions are 2.55x12 metres. This thread is the first I'd heard of it, so they aren't going out of their way to advertise the change.

  3. Just a thought after reading the "why don't people" thread. I don't suppose it's what happens to a VW Beetle that's been sandwiched between two 432's is it?

  4. Nellie the Militant stowed her crane

and said goodbye to the circus

off she drove with a bumpety bump

    bump bump bump

Nellie the militant packed her gear

    and trundled off to Duxford

off she drove with a bumpety bump

    bump bump bump

    Sorry, couldn't resist :-D

That's fantastic - I'll have to take it in and pin it on the noticeboard.

  5. This is the Duxford Militant. She's known as Nellie. Nellie was used by a Circus to help with their elephant, but the elephant died and the militant found a new home at the museum. She's named after the elephant.

Nellie is a working vehicle and is used all over the museum. She's the society's baby, and gets lots of attention. She's also used for driver training, and this photo was taken when I learned how to drive her. I want one for home now.... :)

  6. Actually, real life can be quite amusing.

While evryone knows bits and bytes (a byte is 8 bits) not many people know that

    2bits is a crumb

    4bits in a nybble

    8bits is s byte

    16 bits is a playte

    32 bits is dynner

Getting bay to Shyte, you cold have an attoshyte, which you wouldn't want to put on your head, but would be very small (atto is SI speak for x 10^-18, so an attoshyte is 0.000000000000000001 of a shyte).

  7. Great fun to own and a ladies drive. Prices are still reasonably sensible. Can fit in a garage if canvas is removed. The Ambulance version is especially iconic and can be slept in.

Open to editing and comment guys.

Are you trying to sell it to me? :)
