It doesnt look like Codford from what you can see on google maps.
It reminds me of Ely in Cambridgeshire.
Could it be Copford or Cosford?
-
Probably a newbie question, but what is corking, and why was it done?
-
ah never mind
I'm just up the road in Huntingdon, so no doubt I'll see you at some stage

Last one before bed.
"Dammit man! I said fill it up with the hose. The PETROL hose."
-
"Experiment 3: It has been observed in films such as Conan the Barbarian and Red Sonja, that the less clothing a subject wears, the less likely they are to be hit by ranged and hand-to-hand weaponry. This experiment will see if the effect carries to the vehicle, negating the need for armour."

"The judges wondered whether John had seen any episodes of Pimp-My-Ride before entering"

Assuming everyone who's booked in turns up (fingers crossed for good weather), this should be the biggest show yet.
The last time I was in I think the total number of pre-booked vehicles was around 240.

Bad news - we failed - this time!!
Luck of the draw - I got the new trainee when my ticket number came up who had to go and look it all up/ring DVLA Swansea. He's told me that all DVLA offices now have a copy of a memo advising a change in the Law, retrospective to last year, saying that NOTHING over 2.55m can be registered for road use in the UK since last year. :argh: :argh:
I've just found this link on the DFT website (scroll down for vehicle dimensions).
Maximum dimensions are 2.55x12 metres. This thread is the first I'd heard of it, so they aren't going out of their way to advertise the change.

It's one of the best reasons for living in Cambridgeshire
I've covered all bases though. My Brother lives just around the corner from the Hop Farm...

Hey all,
Just a reminder that it's the Duxford MV show this weekend.
I've managed to slip in the bath so I don't know if I'll be there myself yet, but if you happen to spot a tall girl in blue overalls hobbling around as if she has a 8x10" bruise on her hip, that's probably me
Hope to see you there!
Lauren

Are you coming to Duxford next weekend? It's the MV show on Sunday

Just a thought after reading the "why don't people" thread. I don't suppose it's what happens to a VW Beetle that's been sandwiched between two 432's is it?

I have the St Trinians films on DVD if you get desperate. I can't say I recall which one this is though

Nellie the Militant stowed her crane
and said goodbye to the circus
off she drove with a bumpety bump
bump bump bump
Nellie the militant packed her gear
and trundled off to Duxford
off she drove with a bumpety bump
bump bump bump
Sorry, couldn't resist :-D
That's fantastic - I'll have to take it in and pin it on the noticeboard.

This is the Duxford Militant. She's known as Nellie. Nellie was used by a Circus to help with their elephant, but the elephant died and the militant found a new home at the museum. She's named after the elephant.
Nellie is a working vehicle and is used all over the museum. She's the society's baby, and gets lots of attention. She's also used for driver training, and this photo was taken when I learned how to drive her. I want one for home now....

Actually, real life can be quite amusing.
While evryone knows bits and bytes (a byte is 8 bits) not many people know that
2bits is a crumb
4bits in a nybble
8bits is s byte
16 bits is a playte
32 bits is dynner
Getting bay to Shyte, you cold have an attoshyte, which you wouldn't want to put on your head, but would be very small (atto is SI speak for x 10^-18, so an attoshyte is 0.000000000000000001 of a shyte).

Great fun to own and a ladies drive. Prices are still reasonably sensible. Can fit in a garage if canvas is removed. The Ambulance version is especially iconic and can be slept in.
Open to editing and comment guys.
Are you trying to sell it to me?
-
OK so give us a clue. Is it on a boat, carriage, vehicle, or building?
-
Just found it -

Darn it, Sunday only. I'm booked on Sunday to be at Duxford, otherwise I'd be there.
-
What is it?
-
Blimey, I'm surrounded by famous people. It's like a dinner party at the Beckhams.
-
nyaaah
He said it was an American tank barrel. He didn't say it was on a tank.....
-
Ok, so looking through wikipedia, an M103 has a very long barrel.
-

Wasn't there a provision in the act for being a museum / public display?
