  1. th_My816Wreakertowing2poundercarrier00.jpg

This is my wrecker our I have adopted her, this is my 2 tow job, a 2 pounder carrier under restoration by one of our young troopers.

To get the 816 working i.e brakes which are hydraulic over air over hydraulic I looked on forums like this and found the answers so thanks.

to pressurize/bleed the hydraulic system I got an oil can, one with a pump and connected a piece of hose. Then I bleed the system as per normal after cleaning the air relief valve.

So as I am trying to point out there is more to this forum than chatter so thanks

  2. I can advise that you can paint it any colour that the CO tells you to paint it as long as all the jerry cans are the same colour. every time there was a parade they got painted. As far as I am concerned there is no write or wrong colour with in reason, there are many shades of green, and just as many experts.

  3. Well the female PW can all come out here when I have finished

The last photo was taken in 1942 and is of a group from the 2/8th Armoured Regiment leaving after a quite ale.

The pub (Sugarloaf Creek Hotel) burnt down in 1962 after serving since 1864.

Light horsemen have had a quite ale here since the Boar War as its 10 miles from Pucka.

As far as the council permit goes its a $8.000 shed.

So when I'm open come and visit on the way to Pucka.

As for building a bigger club house I will come over if someone will pay just so that I can go to Salisbury and have fun in the mud.

  4. This is just to let you all know that I am still here and following your exploit's.

I see that your holiday to Salisbury went well, but I couldn't find a P3 Orian to take another photo on that weekend.

The Vickers has its tracks back on and I am waiting for warmer weather to finish paint the interior, than I will pull it out and give her a final coat on the exterior.

Our lynx is on the road and every Tuesday I take it for a walk around the block.

We have 2, 816 wreckers and after fixing the brakes and servicing the crane I have 1 that we got from Woomera going, so that I can start my next project the restoration to going condition of our Yeramba.

I have also been building or rebuilding my own pub.

  5. Here I was thinking that this was a tactical exercise with cam nets up, gun and radio pickets, 2 cans per man per haps, digging in, practicing counter ambush drills, placing all Armour in turret down locations and all it really is, is a piss up! and sleeping in the pub

  6. Are we going to replace them soon, no due to the governments cost cutting or so I am lead to believe.

Also all of our Armoured Corp Army Reserve are now equipt with Perentie, they also have a new role (Light Cavalry), the M113 fleet is in for rebuild to M113AS4 standard most will go to 5/7 RAR Mec.Inf.

So I would say IT will be a while before a decision on the change over vehicle will be announced

  7. This is in Australia for 24 volt FFR

    1. you need 2 12 volt battery's

    2. Leads to Vehicle Radios are one Negative And One positive ( into a Box and then to Radio mounting trays).

    3. a short lead that connects the positive on one battery to the negative on

the other battery and so compleats the circuit of joining the two 12 volt battery's together.

  8. "Corowa swim in" is Australia's largest rally of historic military vehicles based on the Murry river, on the border of NSW and Victoria the main photo shows some 197 vehicles. This was my first year and I attended with the museums 3 vehicles, an Israelite's half track, MRV and V1 a protoo type Vehicle to replace components of our old M113 fleet.

More photos can be seen on Doug's heavy metal and Maple leaf up plus other web site that were lost in the crash.

This brings me to the question were are all your Bren Gun Carriers, Vickers mark 6, Stuarts and Vehicles not American but of that age.
