  1. Hi folks,

I'm booked on the XXX Corp event and just wondering who else is departing from Hull on the Thursday evening?

I'm travelling from Leeds and it makes sense to me that any vehicle owners living nearby get in touch with each other and arrange to travel in convoy, so we can support each other on the journey.

I've spoken to a couple of people this weekend at the Yorkshire Wartime Experience who think it's a good idea so if there is anyone else out there who wants to join the convoy drop me a line.

    Cheers,

  2. Hi folks,

I've finally brought my new QL home and am eager to start working on her. Its been stood for a number of years so want to start with the basics, replacing all the oils and fluids etc.

    So a couple of questions:

What oil do I need? The book says 30HD for engine and C600 for most other parts. I know Clive has a link on this forum but it won't open on my computer. Can anybody tell me the modern equivalents. I normally use Morris oil.

Secondly I want to flush the coolant system. There are plenty of modern fluids out there for flushing the rubbish out but can anyone recommend a brand suitable for older engines?

I am sure I will have many more questions over the weeks and months so thanks in advance for your help.

  3. Hi folks,

I have just bought a Bedford QL and it will need painting before the next show season. Can anyone tell me what colour I should be painting it (will be depicting late war) and where is best to get the paint. For my US vehicles I have always used Warpaint.

Secondly, how is the best way to apply Divisional / units markings? (I am not very good at painting!!!). Can these be bought as stencils or do I need to get someone with a steady hand to do it for me.

I am hoping to "badge it up" as a vehicle belonging to the REME workshops attached to 5th AGRA (Army Group Royal Artillery) which is the unit my dad was attached to. Unfortunately, his memory is failing so any help with which specific markings I need is most welcome.

    Thanks,

    Mark

  4. Hi folks,

After many years of owning American vehicles I have bought my first British. A Bedford QL.

Needs a bit of cosmetic work but for its age is in good nick. Looking forward to getting it to some shows next year.
