  1. Hi Ladies and Gents,

Does anybody know where I can get a tie down for my jeep radio aerial. I understand they are difficult to get hold of. If I had a close up of one it may be possible to make a copy. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

  2. Thanks Gents,

I have just borrowed a trickle charger to get me going as I do not think the battery is totally had it. I will invest in an intelligent charger. Optimate/Accumate/Ctek/Tecmate just to name a few. I have a confession to make and I am sure I would not be the only one that has initially relied on the Jeep fuel gauge. I think you can guess what I am about to say. I was low on fuel and nearly flatened the battery trying to start my baby, I dont need to go on do I you get the drift though.:nut:

Thanks again I have learnt my lesson.

  3. What is the best battery and charger for my Ford GPW. I have a LINCON Battery at the moment and as far as I can gather it has been in the vehicle since 2002. I am not sure whether it has reached the end of its useful life because I am not sure how well the battery has been looked after. So I am after a charger as well. I am sure there is plenty of thoughts out there. The only sure way is to check the SG of the acid?:undecided:

  4. Thanks Pete,

Very informative, you answered all the questions I was going to come back with. I will investigate all you suggested. When I bought her you are told what is what by the owner but it is not until you start maintaining the truck yourself when you release all is not 100%, but that's the fun I suppose. Enjoying every minute.:D

  5. No, they all do, and the shocks wouldn't make a difference, it's your springs.

Compare the angle of the dangle of the moving shackle, side to side. A jeep or a Dodge should have the moving shackle just forward of vertical at the bottom. You'll find your 'low' side has a notably more acute angle.

Interesting trick. The Dodge civilian shackle bushes will interchange with the jeep ones. The Dodge civilian open 'C' shackle will fit a jeep, but the jeep one wont fit the Dodge as it is about 1/4" shorter.

You can level up a jeep by using the Dodge civilian open 'C' shackles on the low side.

Thanks for that, I take it my springs are ok? Are the Dodge shackles readily available?

  6. Quite so David, nothing worse than a damp weapon when you need it

    Pete

Lots of variables there. With the screen up it would be quicker to access your weapon but if it was raining you would have a wet rifle.

If your a purist the factory fit is the way to go. I will think on.

  7. Does anyone know the correct way the rifle holder should be fitted, at present I have mine fitted the right way up for want of a better word but I have seen some upside down. Is there a correct way or is this just preference Thanks

  8. Here are some photos of a Willys MB my nephew Paul bought a while ago at a farm sale near us. We had it running and driving around the yard the next day for the first time in maybe 20years

    Jim.

I am sure it will look the part after restoration you just dont need any.............negative vibes. I love that film.
  9. Hi everyone,

I have always wanted to own a Jeep and I decided now was the time to do it as I am near retirement. I have a 1943 Ford GPW which I intend to use to take part in shows etc so I might need a few pointers at some stage about it. 125 LAA was my dads regiment on D Day he was in the REME and attached to them.:)
