Welcome mate.

I presume it's an M4A2 from the bogie spacing, were the M4A4s the same arrangement?
Correct me if im wrong, but I believe the M4A4 had wider spacing between the bogies than the M4A2.

G'day all
A scrap metal dealer friend of mine has pulled a old model 16 Ajs engine out of a metal bin.
Interestingly enough it was 1940 dated crank case.
I cant say ive heard of a WD AJS but its brother the Matchless 3gl seem to be common in military use.
Can anyone shed some light on this engine or have any photos if they did serve?
Could it just be a civilian engine?

Don't forget, the Kiwis built Carriers too!
Did you fellas over the ditch, produce the same range of LP carriers like we in Aus?
-
I remember seeing a photo of a sherman tank running over a nazi flag somewhere, but the hull of the tank was coated with a layer of cement for extra protection.
-
I didn't, its at the bottom a later post.....when I remembered carriers outside of the NW Europe theatre!
My bad, well I expanded a little bit.
We also produced a mortar carrier.

To add to Robs post....
Bren and then Universal (at a glance looks the same) designed and built in Britain, also manufactured in Canada during the war.
T16 was designed by Ford USA and built in the states for British WD order, looks like a Universal just a bit longer, one extra wheel per side.
Windsor was designed by Ford Canada and built in Canada and arrived in Europe late 44 or 45 IIRC, looks like a Universal, just a bit longer, one extra wheel per side.
Loyd was built in Britain, about the same length as a T16, looks like it is back to front and nothing like a Universal.
Universals come up for restoration quite often, lots being left on farm and in logging areas in Canada in the years after the war, not cheap mind. Try Clive Hughes (Hughes movie supplies on milweb), I believe he has brought in one or two projects this year, could well be already sold though...
Dont forget that us Aussies produced the LP1, LP2 and 2 pounder carriers.

I have in the past when I was a kid, worn my great grandfathers great war medals on the right during the local Anzac day march as a tribute to him.
I see no problem with this as an act of remembrance.
But It does make me angry when people claim they served or they earned medals when they have not.

Ive seen this aircraft project a number of times and been lucky enough to be there during a run of one of the engines.
The last time I was there I got my own personal tour of the aircraft and workshop from a ex RAAF B24 crew member(cant remember if he was a navigator or radio operator).
The team there is doing a fantastic job and its well worth the effort to go have a look if your in the area.

Hi all,
My name is Luke and I live in country Vic.
Ive alway been a motorcycle rider, both on road and trail with a collection of bikes to match.
Im also interested in Military vehicles, history and items so I desided to picked up a Ex Aus Army yamaha XT600 to join my to interests together.
Now to find a BSA M20 ;-)
