I can't help it Jack - I just have a serious rust habit ! I need some rehab, maybe then I will yearn after a shiny new BMW not decrepit ex army 4x4s ? This one I think is an AEC Matador ? Tho there is another AEC model that looks quite simular IIRC. The Radiator looks to far forward to me, so either it is something else or has been modded - bigger engine to go with the huge crane ? It looks a little beyond my restorative powers - or patience. But I do quite fancy a Matador. Are parts still relatively avaiable ? IE new brake cyliners or seals etc ? Cheers Rich

I don't know about the GMC, but some of the older engines will run on pretty much anything, so if supply was bad poor quality fuel might be all thats available. The problem is that unleaded burns hotter, and doesn't lubricate the valves, so burns them out. I'm not convinced this will be a problem for you ? In my classic car, I used to use (before unleaded conversion - hardened valve seats) the castrol valvemaster additive. Mainly because this product is so easy to use. Fill the tank up, note the number of litres, squeeze the bottle and you add fluid to the top chamber of the bottle until you reach the number of litres you just put in, add it to the tank. I attended an open day on salisbury plain a number or years back, and watched all sorts of vehicles being put through their paces. I saw a land rover completely disappear under water in one bomb crater, while all of someones camping gear came floating out of the back of an MK in another. Its also the only time I have seen Scammel explorers, matadors and martians playing in the mud. It was a joy to behold. My friend was an AWDC member so heard about it through them. The MOD site hints that these vehicle open days still happen, but doesn't tell us when, anyone any idea ? Cheers Rich
