Hi guys we went up to Newcastle today
to look at a new toy. So we have bought
another Scammell pioneer sv/2s. It says 1942
on the crane so I think it's a 42 but has the rare
large dash board fitted wich is nice, it is in slightly
better condition than ours but will need
a complete restoration, someone has blasted and
painted the front end but it's not a good finish
its very original wich is good the cab needs little work
but the rear body is pretty rotton. Also the.
Govoner control arm is brOken as it Dos not spring back out when you press
the cold start button and when you rev it hard and let it go back to idle
it cuts out unless you pull the govoner arm back. I will post photos tonight

yeah we did buy it from an auction but it was held in "general auctions" auction for classic vehicles in Redhill Surrey the auctioneer said he had known the scammell for years. at least we could contact Bob and ask him and see if he has any information about the scammell
-
thanks Brian yeah we did buy it from a auction but as it was my dad and brother who went to buy it i don't know witch auction, if you know were we could get a crane handle that would be use full as ours is missing.
scammell4199 i don't know about the double skin i will as my dad about that

the scammell has been taken away to get the rear axle bushes sorted as it was to much of a big job for us to do not having the equipment and all so will just be working on the rear body fr now untill it gets back
-
thanks ratfink_66, yeah there is a lot to do but getting something working cleaned and then painted is very moral boosting
so it will get finished!
-
got some of the rear chassis in red today no doing the springs or rocking beams yet as they are going to be taken apart in the next week to put in new bronze bushings on the axel
-
