    Thanks for the reply - I certainly believe it is also of local manufacture as certain vehicles with similar wheels were used on the airfield and might have lost those wheels over that time period.

    The Friends of the SAAF in Pretoria, South Africa are restoring this petrol bowser. Has 19" sankey pressed steel wheels. Trying to identify age, manufacturer and what the 'tanker cap' looked like. Was this part of the Imperial gift in 1919 or a locally manufactyed job?
