  1. anchor and letter A on front of nearside wing. Any ideas chaps ?.

Hi. This marking was used by HMS Vectis, Cowes on the Isle of Wight. We have an MWD on the IOW that was "Left behind" after the war that served at HMS Vectis. During restoration this marking was found. However no Gtee is was not used elsewhere. HMS Vectis was involved in the naval planning for D-Day.......so presume it was a Naval marking

  2. The glacial restoration of my MWR continues and as the refurb of the 19 set installation is approaching the end, my thoughts are turning to the furniture in the back of the truck.

I attach some photos of the back of an MWR in WW2. The rear boxes do have lips. The boxes on my MWR have the lips you describe.

  3. I did the same on my MWR. I have also noticed that some MW owners fit a non return valve after the tank selector to stop the petrol running back to the tanks. Demon Tweeks do them and I am thinking of fitting one. Not original but would help to solve the problem and you will not see it as it is hidden away. Just a thought.

  4. We have used Penrite Gear Oil - Trans Oil 140 in both gear box and diff for many years. It is designed for vintage vehicles and has no additives to damage yellow metal bearings, shims etc. ie it is not a Hupoid type oil. We have had no problems with our MWD, MWR , OSS and QL Bedfords using this.

  5. Wanted. A LAPORT "V" shape aerial splitter mount that goes into the WW2 aerial mount to allow the fixing of two 8FT aerials in one roof mount. Made of Brass with two retaining springs. Any help gratefully received Thanks.
