Hi 6x6
What will become of the vehicles in that yard ?
Is it worth saving any of them? I am not shy of a good restoration project!
Would it be possible to aquire anything of interest?

Whilst hampering for a WOT2, I have recently turned up an original Ford Maintenance Manual that covers the WOT2a,b,c,d,e,f & H.
What I find interesting is that I noticed that on the top of the front cover, in a box it reads:-
BOOK N0 101/F.D.1A
AIR PUBLICATION N0 2637
An 'Air Ministry' publication? did the RAF use many of these?
By the way if anyone knows of one for sale, or indeed wants to swap for my fantastic Morris Commercial C8 then please shout!

While i was scouring for pics to use as reference for rebuild, i've counted 7 so far that i have seen, including mine. These are the numbers taken from the photo's i have, i havent included names or reg numbers in case anyone objects....
1, Z9273401
2, Z5812347
3, Z5813657
4, Z5810792
5, Z5812885
6, Z58133442
7, one with a reg number but no bonnet number but obviously a different reg to any of the others.
if anyones number is on here and objects i'll willingly remove it.
i'd be very interested if anyone can add to this list?
These are GS C8's that i've seen or found recent photo's of.
The 2 at tilbury, are they C8's?
HI heres mine to add to your list, Z5812229.
Cheers
Jules.

Hello C8 lovers!
Have not used mine at all this year yet, however I did start her up and dive her home and back, about 4 miles the other day.
Now, having run mine for 3 years I am getting a pretty steady 8 -9 MPG this having talked to other owners is about as good as it gets.
I have improved mine slightly by dis conecting the front drive shaft.
Rick, you are right, you get permant (unless you remove the front shaft) 4 wheel in 1st and Reverse, the leaver near the battery box is to engauge 4WD in all the other gears, I have tried mine and it did work fine.
The red light on the ign Switch is your charging light, should glow until engine runs correctly showing that correct charge is being generated.
And finally yes correct oil level in air cleaner is a must also check reguarly your fuel filter, they are only small and block or restrict fuel flow.
Regards

It came from the IWM Duxford, it was badly damaged two years ago in a storm, it was gifted to the East England Military Museum, who have made a very good job of rebuilding it..........honest!

What about my Half Track ? It is road legal, as it has rubber tracks, but can I drive it on a motorway?
With the prices of low loaders this year it will be a lot cheeper to drive it the 100 miles to Beltring down the M25 !

Yes, It is known as 'Spitfire Bridge' but it was actually a P40 Kittyhawk that made that flight!

I am very Proud to report that my Great Uncle, Sgt. S.J.Mitchell 11680 was the very first to be awarded an Air Force Medal on this day.
He flew Bristol Fighters from 1917- until he was sadly killed on 3rd April 1918.

Hello John
Yes, I do have a pair of Doors sat on my shelf awaiting fitting (which will be a while yet)
Quite happy to lend them to John Williams at Chesterton, for patterns.
and yes John turns out some fantastic work, I have slowly over the years fed him with bits of 'old army lorry' He is far more at home working on 1950's racing cars, D Type jags & old Italian jobs!
Give me a ring on 07713210960 during the daytime and have a chat.

Checked the wheels I had last night but they say 10.50 x 20 on the tyres. I do know they came from a Quad though.

HI C8 FAT
I might be able to help you with a wheel & tyre, in fact 4!
I have a front axle also.
I will check Wednesday eve when I go up to my workshop, I know that they all came off a C8 FAT and the wheels/tyres are bigger than my 900x16's
Cheers

The original packing material was white felt about 3mm thick. I have replaced it with 4mm cork, I just bought a pack of cork floor tiles and cut into strips.
I had to make new steel straps for my No 2 C8.
Keep up the good work Rick

Hi Guys
Finally got back on line after loosing you a while back,
My question is:- Owning an M3 is great fun and always turns heads, but it is damm expensive to drive or low load to shows, last year i paid £400 to take it to Beltring & back!
plus the fuel driving it around the arena.
Anyway, who can tell me the implications of me buying a low loader and driving it myself?
what should I look for, remember she weighs 9 tonnes! will I need to get an HGV ?
what advise can anyone give ?
Cheers

I have been offered a Ford (fordson) Thames truck, I have not seen it yet, it needs work,
It is 5 miles away and the guy wants to give it away.
Not sure what age, I think 1940's.
The big question is, do I want one ? could it be a 'Military vehicle'? were they used by the forces & if so what could I paint it up as?

SNAP!
Just come in from my workshop, after spending 4 hours assembling my C8 screen & I know just what you are talking about Simon !

When I rebuilt my spare MB engine last year, that block was slightly pitted, so I used a good covering of 'RED' gasket sealer both sides of the gasket.
Your an Engineer, is that a bad thing to do ?

Early War Paint colours
in British Vehicles
Posted
Hello Guys,
Sorry if this has been asked before, but what is your opinion of the early, 1940 British vehicle colours, I have to to spray, a MCC CDSW and a CS8, both want to be in the mid 1940 colours with the early Cammo paint work.
Whats colours should I use ? I was told Dark Bronze Green ?
Any photos would help also.
Cheers
