Wow that sounds a fantastic weekend. Great pictures - good pub and sounds like a magic breakfast. Doubt my motor would be up to the speed for that road run but who knows...
-
Welcome to you. Interesting history there.
-
Meant to say that I am down south on Somerset/wiltshire border now. So a LandRover to the Highlands costs ££ but always worth it when I get there.
P.S. Voted:angel:

hey ya i am new here and was just wondering where everyone is from and if they are near me, i live in Caithness at the very top of Scotland in a town called Thurso
Welcome to you. I know Thurso. Before being married I was lucky enough to live near Tongue and also Kildonan and my Father's last abode was near Bonar Bridge.
I still come up camping every now and then.

That is brilliant. Would it have been geared down to cope with the tracks I wonder/

Okay thanks, I don't think enough of us have got one to start thinking about an owners club yet!
Got to be heading that way, Mike

Welcome
I used to enjoy the Freedom Parade through Tewkesbury when I was at CVD Ashchurch.
Do you still get any explosions from the flour mill? Or has it closed down now.
-
Welcome to you, James.
I am sure you find the answers here somewhere:-)

Very sorry to hear this news. How can reservists - i.e. very limited amount of training and experience - ever do the same job. Cannon fodder.
Whitehall does not care for any form of heritage or what is stands for - unless it benefits Whitehall residents.

Only joined recently here too. Good bunch and extreamly helpful.
Hope it all goes well

Provisionally I have got a trailer arranged and will have to bring him with him family and payment:D.
Any more ideas about the auction? Got a list of stuff already here:laugh:

You can hear the centrifuge on a Scania 8 litre engine filter spinning like a turbo after shut down :cool2:
And on my Tombraider Defender TD5. Just remember to clean/replace the centrifuge as recommended.
My Peugeot 205 diesel has done 235,000 miles. I bought it new in '88. Changed oil every 5000 miles or every school holidays. Also friction reducer added every 25000 after the first service. Uses about 1 litre between oil changes.

What a top-ho bloke he must be.
I used to live very loacally to that show as well for 10 years and also never got there. Always ended up working that week-end. Now I live in Somerset and could not take a vehicle there if I tried. But there again - I never had an ex-military vehicle to take but always had Land-Rovers and old tractors so totally no excuse at all.
Better luck next year:D

Definately going to attend with a GS 110 allthough I may bring something a little more exciting depending on time/funds.
Anybody else from the west country travelling up the A303 on the Saturday morning.
I am looking for a wider trailer to go behind the landrover to carry my Eager Beaver and if so then I will be going up the 303. Winconton bruton area here.

I do like the idea of going to the school prom with it - will be most impressive and always useful to have a deadline to work to.
I was trying to persuade my son and his g/f to go to this year's prom in a 2 seater sofa screwed onto a pallet on the forks of my Eager Beaver. She did not want to play:cry:
I will need to persuade my daughter to go to her's next year on that particular method of transport then:cool2:

As a matter of interest I was still at C.V.D. Ashchuch during the hot year so may well have had the pleasure of driving your EB. And 'No' that dent, scrape and scratch was not me - never did it:red:
-
yes I have seen your thread there - very informative with lots of piccies added over time as well.
-
Thank you for the info, guys
I have 4 cylinders and a brake hose being made up and should be here during the week.
-
So that is only allowing a weeks grace - phew not much time there
looks as though it maybe a tractor or Q plate
-
Wow your kit is very tidy indeed. Excellant pictures. Thank you
-
Welcome to you - may all your rust be little bits:undecided:

Even I would be prepared to carry explosives at that max speed of 5mph unless it is Nitro on the roads rounds here>

A mate of mine sent of to RLC museum the Service number (from the brass service plate on the chassis)of his newly aquired Milie MkIII only to get back a record card for a motorbike of the same serial number.
He questioned the info and was sent the record card for a Millie of the same serial number as the motorbike. Surely this should not happen.
DVLA have been known to make this error as well. There are several vehicles running around with the same registration number as another vehicle.
No-one will ever have the same as my Tombraider though - that number was made up by a criminal in Glasgow but because I had had it for so long Swansea have let me keep it:D
