  1. Hi all,

I wonder if anyone has come across tracks that were fitted to Gmc cckw rear bogies, either singly or as a pair.

They were also fitted to the front wheels when they were dualled.

A set for sale would be ideal but I would settle for a sample, a drawing or information.

As they are featured in the Gmc book by Emile Becker, I assume they are WW2.

    Thanks in advance, David.

  2. Weasels ? I remember them.

    In no particular order;

The only 6 volt item I remember on a Weasel was the blackout headlight, through a dropper resistor

Wiring - all mine lasted well

Fuel - I noticed that modern fuel does for the late rubber 'bullet-resistant' fuel tanks. If you have a steel tank you'll be OK

Tracks - Liberty tracks should be fine, but keep your old tracks as people are making new bands too New tracks are expensive but it is difficult to over state the amount of work in rebuilding old tracks.

    Hi Gordon,

Do you have any details on the new track bands ?

    Regards David.

  3. Hi Giles,

Yes, the eager beaver arrived from Holland in March.

Seems to be complete, runs and drives well, hydraulics work, low hours/miles, poor tyres and brakes, obviously been standing for a while ! It should not require a huge amount of work, i hope !

I would have valued antarmike's comments, both before and after purchase but........

    Regards David

  4. Hi Radek,

The welbike was on ebay in may 2010. The location was Tasmania. I bought it but sold it to a guy in Holland at the end of last year. As everyone else has been saying it is yet another scam ! These are not the photo's that were on ebay, so possibly it had been advertised elsewhere. Here is a picture of it on my kitchen table just prior to selling. The furry seat cover and homemade petrol tank have been removed.

    Regards David.

  5. Hi Simon,

I tried to contact the museum early this month to ask if the EB was still available, i didn't recieve a reply.

That was the 3rd EB i have enquired about.

Good luck with yours, some photo's would be nice.

Lastly, if you, or anyone on HMVF, know of an Eager Beaver Forklift for sale i would be interested.

  6. There are differences between the originals and repros the main one is the engine number if it does not begin with xxe it is not a welbike one. Another is the condition, originals have quite often been bashed around a bit and have dents and scratches.

Hi, you will have to be careful when using the engine number as a reference. I have in the past owned an original without xxe engine number (replacement engine ?) and a repro with the xxe engine number (built from original parts including engine, rear wheel etc. )

Very interesting to hear about Welbike UK.

  7. Hello David, They look great, in-fact I would like to buy a set for my mid series H1 could you please send me the makers contact details.

    Cheers

    Hi packman,

Please look at ebay, item number 270767706929, this is the winch plate that i bought for my Gmc.

As said in an earlier post, Robert does not list Gmc plates in his ebay shop but if you contact him, he will be able to help.

    Regards David.

Hi Simon, that is a useful looking vehicle. I have not seen them with the artic cab before. Do you know how many were made with cabs ? Have you had it long ?

    Regards David.
