  1. I was in the parade today:DDriving the old Series 1 AA rover. Lots of green toys to see and have a poke around. There were a great selection of CVRTs MANs a Viking, Bedford MKs and MJs A towed rapier system(could'nt steal the inert Missiles they had on board:cry:)

Lots of vets and current troops and walking wounded.

  2. Not sure as to why they are being sold off early But they should have been TDi'ed parts commonality with the wolfs etc. They would have cost alot in the scheme of things. They are using the wolf 90's to make more 110's they could have put all the bits from the 90s and fitted them into the later/good nick 110s

    But its only money eh?

  3. Forgot to reply to this The Rolls has 4 belts to operate the Waterpump and 1 to run the alternator:shocked: and you have to take the fan off to put a new one on:-|. Air in the diesel turned out to be the O'rings one in the elbow through the chassis by the tank and the other where the plastic fuel joins the metal to the engine. Turns out you can get just the O'rings that fit inside these fitting(many thanks to the Army for the fittings:D)

The drops ran perfect all the way back to southern Germany Markus was well chuffed he thought it would be a long slow drive back. The drops ran at a constant 48mph all the way up hill and down dale.

picked this one up from David Crouches its going to a mate in Germany after we have done a few mods to it;). It drove back from Davids to ours 200k away as sweet as anything, but got a battery warning light(belt thrown off and snapped) seems to have got the air in the diesel syndrome that a few others have posted about:embarrassed:. I will make a start on it in the morning and find the cause of the air leak.

  4. I would move it on a trailer to save all the hassle. I was going to say about the 20mph towing speed you could lose the props from inside (depending on how far a resto your going for!!)

The bracket you have made up could it be attached to the hull via the recovery/lashing eyes on the lower front? I guess some sort of clamp arrangment but would have to be strong(forces when turning can be very high)

  5. Sally B also landed at Goodwood whilst dropping off the AA series 1( I will be having a hard time working down there for the weekend:laugh:).

Will post a couple of pictures when I get back.

Rumour has It there will be 15 Spitfires down there this year.:wow:

  6. Below is your scammell drops at Dorset with Scammell Pioneer as ballast heading the Pickfords trailerin the playpen:nut: and second shot shows them at Kettering rally.

Number plate looks familiar. I have just picked this one up from David Crouches its going to a mate in Germany after we have done a few mods to it;). 7. Funny old thing...

In my uniformed yoof I ran the user trial on these 2 (and a Volvo as it happens....) and guess what? The Leyland was the better all round truck. The Volvo was nice though (and fast, utterly reliable and superb off road) and might have pipped the Leyland except for the size of the cab and a couple of other details.

If you ask me nicely Ill tell you why the Leyland has an Edbro and not a Marshall body..

    I'm asking nicely:cool2:

  8. We use them all the time on the road(AA) we have a digital fluke one that is fab. Main use is cooling systems seeing when stats open, temp when fans cut in, etc. But as Robin says easy to spot a misfire.

    Wheel bearing getting hot!

    Binding brakes!

    Blocked exhaust!

Hot and cold spots in rad.

Upsetting Apaches on Salisbury plain:blush: (Makes the turrent come round quick!!!!)

    Just to name a few.

A very useful peice of kit
