Welcome,
Ironside at A Long recovery should be able to help you with your questions.... as he uses ex militray kit...
guess you will need a coach boom for the coaches and buses...
-
Excellent Idea, I will give him a shout and see if we can get him to join...
I know he has so much information stored in his head, and untold hard data so now all we need is him here sharing it...
ok guys form a queue with your questions and one at a time we hope he will join and answer them...

Hi Cliff

you mentioned that the Diamond T was moved in 2003,
was this the same Diamond T that was at the Beverley Museum of Army Transport
when it closed in 2003??
Cheers

Having spoken with the great northern one, he can confirm the front bumper was changed due to the vehicle being involved in an accident, signs of which can still be found by the amount of filler on the near side front wing, This was done while on active service.
The vehicle arrived at the Museum of Army Transport in 1980, he still has the 1033 for its transfer and the servicing details from its arrival until 2003.

This vehicle was in the museum of Army Transport for them 20 odd years, the man who would know all about it is the great northern one aka Wally Dugan.

When I was at college I found an old (1960s?) book on recovery. On the first page was a flow diagram and the first box said "Engage brain before mouth or other equipment".
this reminds me of a winch truck at Dhekelia

Its not hard to do your track Licence, just practice and practice driving the vehicle you plan to use and get use to how it behaves braking and turning. and book your own test, from memory its around £65 at worst and you dont pass youve only lost that... but hey its your money.

After a silly moment sometime back I had committed myself to attend the Slovakian version of Beltring, their website was very encouraging, pictures of vehicles playing in possibly the biggest arena playground ever, pretty girls and limited rules.
What an experience, it's kind of how I remember Beltring 15years ago.
so heres just a small sample of the event...
-
Could it be a 439?
-
heres a couple of photos I took of the OT under Slovak testing...

I'm sure Neil will be over soon but he said it was running a lot better now.. And the times he went out with it after that the marshalls in the arena had to keep telling him to slow down :-D
The arena at W&P needs to be a bit bigger.. maybe a mud oval? :-D
Glad to hear its better, I will tell Kamil when I See him next week, maybe Mud and Rust needs an arena like the slovaks have at there show...
I got a couple of picture from Kamil's road test in the arena, so will post them asap...

This is our first little teamvideo, not that much vehicles (though it has a bit of Neil's OT )
does anyone know how the OT was running after the slovak had a fiddel with the fuels system ?

Wished I could be there, it's a pukka location and normally a pukka weekend
-
The one the Slovaks brought to W&P back 2008 was pukka, maybe they will bring it again this year, as there are roomers they are returning, but at worst I hope to get a play with one when I visit the Slovaks show in August, then I will report back what I think, having owned a few vehicles and driven quite a few more in my time
-
No I can't make it, as now doing Slovak one a couple weeks after beltring...
