  1. I am afraid not. On talking to someone I usually get asked "Where are you from?" Of course when talking to relatives from Wales they say you sound like an aussie! Anyway I cop a lot now with our Prime Minister being born in Wales and she as a strong aussie accent and follows that strange aussie rules game.(still can't figure out the rules)
  2. Here is a photo of a 30ton constructor at Engineer park, Dhekelia, Cyprus circa 1971. The excavator is a 38 Ruston Bucyrus (38RB) rigged as a crane. We were transporting it to Famagusta docks to unload a container ship as the local dock cranes couldn't lift the weight. Containers were the new thing in those days and it took us all night to unload the ship. Note the green paint in those days which we use to get clean by liberal use of diesel soaked rags!
  3. Greeting everyone, my name is Gwyn Matthews aka Taffy. I am an expat now living in Australia for the past 30 years. I don't own any vintage vehicles although I admit to driving some of them in a past life as a squaddie (Royal Engineers) '64 to '73. I have visited this site a few times over the years and enjoyed looking at some of the photos, specially the military ones. Why I finally joined is that I have re-discovered some old slides from my army days, which I am slowly transfering to my computer, or is that digitalizing? I intend to post some of the old green machines on this site to share around. Well thats all for now, and many thanks DriveRE
