  1. Just a quick heads up, the toilets are now booked for the weekend. Anyone arriving earlier than 9.30 will need to tie a knot in it, HEHE.

I have just booked us in to the Museum of Army Flying at Middle Wallop for the Saturday morning, there is no time limit so please take your time when in the museum. Being a bank Holiday there should be plenty of the public about if you wish to display your vehicles. The driver training corse is well in the planning stages and should be some great fun to put your vehicles through there paces. The pub display for Friday night is still a gogo, again, anyone wishing to display there vehicles and kit please let me know and we can work this with the land lord. One last thing, although 99.9% of everything is in place we are haveing trouble tracking down a water bowser and some lights for the camp site. Anyone with these types of kit, or know anyone that could help us out with this type of kit, could you pass on my details and I will get back to you/them ASAP. Anyone that hasn't got there name down, we are still takeing bookings. This should finish today but I will bend the rules slightly if need be.

Many thanks to all you guys and gals that are giveing this event a go for the first time, we hope and prey you want be disepointed. Everyone that have been before, hold on to your hats, this is going to be a good one.

    Hope to see you soon.

    Tony.

Just a quick run down for the weekend.

Arrive Friday, a run to the local pub in the evening for a display of your vehicles to the local community is planned.

Saturday we are planning a drive over to the Middle Wallop AAC Museum for a visit. Saturday evening we can do the driver training times trials. The corn will be cut so there will be 80 Acres to play on, tracked vehicles welcome but if possible, please bring a wheeled vehicle for the SPTA run.

Sunday, a planned all day run over Salisbury Plain and then back via some of the local camps. As stated before, this is a non public event, just a weekend for vehicle owners to drive there vehicles in the conditions they were designed for.

One last thing, there will be a disclamer for the campsite. All vehicles must be MOTed, Taxed and full licence must be held for all vehicles on this event. Anyone else wishing to join us please get your name down before the 6th August 2010.

    Tony.

  4. i'm coming regardless of the carriers condition but it would be really nice to get to drive it across the plain.

    eddy

Nice one, will be great to meet up with you. Information on the get together will be emailed to all participating parties in due corse, just need to sort your emails out. Anyone wishing to join in on this weekend please could you let me know before the 6th August as we will not be taking anymore vehicles after that date. An event form will be sent via email. These forms are printerble and can be pasted to members of your group or club for completion. The forms just make it easier for us to sort lavs, food and convoys. Lots more info with-in the Plains 2010 forms.

    All the best.

    optimistic eddy

Do you want me to send a team up to help mate HEHE if it's not ready, it's not a problem, you are more than welcome to join us with what ever you drive. I will hopefully have some more news on the new fund raiser sometime next week. Updates coming soon..

    Tony

  7. Sorry it's been a while but things have been a bit crap down this neck of the wood. This weekend is still running. There have been a few changes but nothing to drastic. The SPTA run is a gogo, the driving course is a gogo, the pub just down the road from the campsite is just stunning, working on a skittle alley at present. The land lord is more than happy for you guys to bring the vehicles to the pub and park on the village green oppoist. A few of the lads want to cut a cricket pitch or the weekend, would anyone want to get a team up for a bit of fun before the pub opens? We have dropped the H4H fund raiser and are going for a whole new charity type collection, more on that when you guys come over.

Just one last thing, could we have a posible head count for this weekend, just need to get some numbers sorted for certain things ie turd tardises and food. Many thank to all that have stuck with this small weekend and hope to see you soon.

    Tony.

  8. Got my entry through -cheers lads. I hope to be there, but still cannot drive and have had no chance to get the MUTT MOT'd. It might be that I have to come without the MV. But it largely depends on my recovery, I need to be back at work.

You'll be fine Mark, Mick can always piggy back you around the show if need be........

  9. Really looking forward to this show. Mick, Bonk and myself will be leaving Andover around 5 saturday morning, should be there for 7.30. What time do the gates open for the great unwashed Lee??? Sadly still no Military vehicle so will be there for photographic oppitunity's again.

    Tony.

  10. Finally, after many months of waiting I got what I wanted. The new Buffalo has been used on the area. Many thanks to 22Reg RE for sorting this one for me.

    Hope you like.

Can't say to much about this vehicle cos I don't know much about it. From what I saw of it, it is one hell of a work horse.

    Tony.

  11. Tony, tell them if we cant have tracks you,ll end up getting wet again!:cool2::cool2:

    DaveP

Dave, I am working on that one at the moment mate. West Down seem to be having a bit of a office change, that also includs some of the old faces I worked with over the last few years. Hopefully the new guys might be a bit more relaxed over the tracked vehicle issue.

    Tony.

  12. Just a quick heads up, The Wootton Bassett run has now been scrubbed. The main reason for this, the logistics of getting everyone from Andover to WB is just proving to costly. Just getting there and back again is over 80 miles and what with the fuel prices rocketing it would not be right to exspect you guys to come all this way and then spend more at these prices. Another reason is, basicly we are about Salisbury Plain, getting as many classic vehicles back were they belong. This is what we need to concentrate on. We can still raise money for H4H but keep our format and weekend origanal.

A few freinds from the TA have offered to come over with a truck or two, more on that later. I will be contacting West Down over the next few day to see what we can bring and see what area's we have to work with so please stick with us.

    Tony

  13. All siting down? Degsey is totally correct! The clubs have a place, but the forum allows almost instant communication and a very real world of knowledge. How many times have we all posted in a panic and got answers almost immedatiley?

Total agree Tony, I have decided to bin the Plain Military web site and concentrate all my time on the PM forum. The main reason behind this is so we can conmunicate direct and in almost real time with ourmembers. The web site has been great fun to me but we must move on to keep up with the trends. We have also looked into an electronic mag or article type threads, but at the moment we are just sorting bits out. At the end of the day, forums are a great meeting place for all types of people and interests..

  14. Jack remember many moons ago when I approached you about the Salisbury Plain weekend? Remember the advice you gave me, the help you gave me, The freinds you gave me??? remember when you said, no matter how hard it gets stick with it, if you believe in what you do it will work?

Well let me just say this, I took all that on board mate.

Over the last few years I have meet many good folk through your forum. Its given me a new place to bore hundreds of people with my pictures and its given me a new direction in my life, a direction I wound not have taken if it were not for your helping words. I will help HMVF and surpport TPM all the way with what ever you need. I am more than happy to pay if need be, its the least I can do.

Now stop your moaning, sort yourself out, get some sort of payment system sorted and lets get back on track. If you don't the Plain Military boys will be round to run a mock over your Jimmy and give you ten of the best.

Chin Chin old chap, and remember theirs allway a silver lining.

    Tony and the SPTA crew.......

  15. how very dare you sully these hallowed pages of recovery vehicles with that dirty great engineer vehicle.:-d:-d

    lmfao...................................

Here are a few snaps of the CRARRV at work. The first recovery was a CHARRV, as you can see from the first pic, it's not all straight forward recovery. The chock in the rear sprocket is a safety device. It was removed before the recovery started.

    SA31.jpg

The next set of pics are the training aid teams setting up a crashed Cheiftain. Again, nothing simple about this recovery. The training aid was pulled over from flat ground onto it's turret by just the one CRARRV.

Lastly a sad sad sight, a poor old Centurion RV training aid......

  16. The photo of the BvS10 was a good one too and RRV photos are a bit like hens teeth at the moment, an interesting vehicle. I'm actually surprised that it has the full machine gun mount.

    Steve

    Hello Steve

Thanks to Andy I have a full spec sand blaster version (ASTAN) up as well for you. The 206 is a rare one for me, not to many of these about.

    Tony

  17. The last one is the Viking repair and recovery vehicle the one marked Viking RV (XC52AA) is a standard Viking BvS10, its not easy getting the captions in the right place.

    Great pics

Well done Steve, you spotted the deliberate mistake HEHE. I didn't have a picture of a front shot of the Viking RRV so thought I would stick a standered one on. was hopeing no one would notice, how wrong can one man be....

    Replacement now posted..

    Tony
