  1. thanks for the reply,

the dutch licence department won't let me as i have been convicted on charges of owning a bren gun and sten gun (both legally deacts in the uk) while not being deactivated enough in holland.

my brother who has both on his licence won't travel by boat, and airplane operators like klm give a bit of trouble with their terrorist laws.

this one europe thing is not working out on this bit, but i have hope to ask for a .22 hunting licence here, or have my fiance import and own the enfield for me.

i hope i have a chance with a mark on my record (2 years probation) for as the judge called it, over exitement in collecting.

    cheers,

    Arjan

  2. Can a gun smith import a .38 revolver for deact purpose?

I still have mine that needs the work (well worn and unsafe for life ammo)

Can the same gun smith convert a life .22 enfield in to a blank fire rifle? and can i keep said rifle for shows ?

i have 5 deacts in holland without any proofmark or paperwork, i like to have that carried out to uk spec so i can have them on the wall.

is there a gun smith on this forum who can quote for the jobs via PM?

    thanks,

    .303 fan

  3. What damage? bit of grass that got churned??

i still think about the poor man that drowned (not the first drowning according to my partner)

that should have been fenced off by the hop farm.

the water problems was poor drainage, no need for drain ditches to flood.

i hope that the town gets by as with the show moved and the hop farm closed its rough to survive.

  4. most dutch lightweights only had 20k miles on the clock when they got desposed.

mine i got with torren door tops, wrecked tub and worn engine with 19k on the clock.

it went off road a lot and they are sturdy. do they come with dutch soft tops?

  5. indeed, dutch army land rovers had the diesels.

not just the lightweight, also the ambulances and scout vehicles used them,

how they ended in the uk? don't know but for that price they can stay there. i rather buy a 2.25 thats worn and have it rebuild as a fresh unit.

  6. i got my C licence last year, with code 95 on it.

to obtain that code 95 i did a loading test, that for back pain issues i was not allowed to do, and a driving test that looked like a trail set out.fun, but to be honest, worthless.

now i sit here with my new profession... doing nothing as i got told i am not allowed to sit behind the wheel all day (concrete mixer etc, all non driver loading jobs)

    nice..

  7. got offered a scrap vehicle price of 30 pounds per 101fc.

    told them no.

lead, copper etc went to holland in bags where space was available, as i got a better price.

after a while i gave them a few wheels with rubber still on them they are yet to collect.

my heap of 9mm , .38 special casings are gone too. kept the .38 S+W ones as they get rare in new reload able brass.

i never scrapped anything that could be used, exept the casings as there was a lot of it, i could not make any one happy with it.

  8. i know the americans use donna nook as training site. i am not allowed to take home shiny bits of metal as it may be unexploded ordnance.

i still have to see the remnants of the tank, i only live here officialy since the 17th of january.

i will keep my eyes out for tanks and other gear, like the old 101fc ambulance and bedford that stood at a farm in saltfleetby (i dare to say it as they are gone now) and i plan to bring my toys over too.

    cheers,

    new country member , Arjan

  9. the armour symbol was a sample, this is mine.

    IMG_0591_zps8c327ecd.jpg

with the same type of mark under there as is on top of the bonnet.

the S symbols are on the side as i found circles big enough to mach, and NL sticker next to them.

    the dash remains...

    IMG_0593_zps679a7e14.jpg

    fixing tin worm holes...

    IMG_0598_zps6be961ad.jpg

    did nicely i thought...

    IMG_0599_zps26d649b2.jpg

and the other side, took out half a foot well.

    holiday.... in 2004.

    IMG_0004_zps709dd7f9.jpg

    3 spare engines 1 in the 88lw and 2 in a trailer..

    IMG_0002_zps8332d438.jpg

broke down before customs, the 2,5 Normaly Astmatic had a failed stop solenoid. took 5 minutes and off we went.

    IMG_0003_zpseda48cc4.jpg

slowly it gets there, till i have to move to the uk and leave it behind till i get a workshop there..

  10. i can't make the S out of my marking. the S in a circle is on the side of the hood, not on top in front of the spare wheel. it's also at the rear under the regiments mark, here a sample.

    sample.jpg

    with a 2.5 n/a engine....

    rollover_rover2.jpg

not the worlds best rubber under there.

    bovenkant1-1.jpg

19J engine that was short lived.

oil feeding pipe broke on the tank track at war and peace 2006.

i'll get some paper over my paint mark to get a template, i never seen it on a 88lw before.

just my luck if it was something special ;)

  11. i have bought it to offroad with, rolled it twice.

that roll bar was the best 30 pounds ever :)

the seats and chopped bulkhead were done before i bought it, to get it on cheaper commercial road tax till it turned 25 and became tax exempt.

as the tub was extended i ended up with a steering wheel problem, a smaller sport steering wheel was fitted ans the original stored.

the dutch diesel ones had a few differences to the uk spec ones.

rear light clusters, front side light / indicator turrets on the wings,

a strange myth about a petrol engine being converted to diesel while its diesel engine coded,

weaker gearbox mods and constant breaking rear halfshafts.(i fitted a salisbury version)

as for the fuel tap if i have an issue with that, i grab one from the heap. when my friend stopped his land rover garage he scrapped the lot, i took 3 109 tub loads of stuff for free as thanks for the voluntary work i did. learned a lot.

this vehicle has been chopped and changed a lot, i do keep spares to restore the front when needed.

  12. I finished the 109 ex raf, a 101fc and now moving on to the dutch 88lw.

    88lw.jpg

it has an engine failure , electrics failure and chassis / bulkhead rot.

    engine2.jpg

also i found a painted sign on the bonnet, same on the rear under another rectangular dutch unit marking, not a clue what it is from.

    marking.jpg

the 2,25 diesel goes out, a nissan diesel goes in,

the rear crossmember gets replaced with a few bits of replacement plates where needed.

a harvey frost crane is going to be placed in the tub, as it needs to work for it's upkeep.

as for electrics, i need to see that instead of the 24V it's rewired on 12V with the basics of whats needed.

  13. Wish i could afford anything bigger :-(

if land-rover mobs aint really welcome i only have land rover shows, where my gear is laughed at as it aint shiny enough :P

as for my 90, it might be ciffie but disabled adapted and needed. gonna put on some ex military gear like radio rack and

antennea for the CB radio. might be looking for a suicide shift ex army bike, to do the shopping rounds with.

i hope there is public camping aswell this year, to hide the ex army landies, behind the ex army tent and thats only caus we have a 2nd tent that non army.

might see some of you this year. no forum members seen last year me thunks.

  14. i have had concerns about disability toilets, and got a reply on my question.

the W&P crew is going for a full site survey in january and i did ask if needed, they could get a unit like the one on the public camping last year with a radar key, to prevent situations with 1 key, 10 disabled peeps. i think it is also the law to provide facilities like that, but if needed i can calculate for my own chemical cabin to be delivered on site.

giving the new show a go, i hope it has the same atmosfere like last year.
