  1. Cheers everyone, I will be holding fire on this one for a bit I think! I like the wooden stocked ones better anyway. I think the nerves have set, as the lightweight will be on show at Billing this weekend and never having done a show before I'm worryed that a plain green GS LWT is going to be over looked as I know there will be a very nice looking VPK, and some fully kitted out FFR landys on the stand with mine so I'm trying to find some ways to make mine a bit more intresting and I do love the look of an slr. If your going please feel free to say hello as you walk past to look at the more intresting stuff on show:D
  2. This is an old spec fully strippable except the barrel and it's to go in my lightweight, I can't see a sniper using a short barrelled gun, how ever I know a few l1a1's in British use had there sling swivels taken off and I was lead to belive that this was a British rifle used by some airborne units cost is just under £700 so I don't want to get somthing compleaty wrong! Anybody know any more on these rifles? Cheers Shaun
  3. Hi, I'm currently on the lookout for a nice L1A1 and I just wondered if there was anything I should know before I part with my cash? I have found a short barreled version that I may be intrested in but I dont seem to be able to find any info about them, all I know is that it has the later black furniture annd dosnt have anywhere to mount a sling, I have been told that they were used by snipers, but to me this sounds wrong, anybody know more? cheers Shaun
  4. thanks for that, I like the look of a fully kitted out ffr. I also see you have an SLR, what are the rules about deac's, I know you dont need a licence for them and that the rules on them changed in about 95, but is there anything I should know before getting one? Cheers Shaun
  5. Hello and welcome, I'm just over the hert's border from you myself:D

  7. Hi everybody, I'm trying to get my lightweight GS ready to do a couple of shows, and I would like to get some kit to dress it up a bit, it was in military service from 1983 but wasn't issued intill 1985 and was cast in 1992, and was sent to 22 SAS (I'm not sure about showing it as an SAS vehical though). The problem is that I haven't realy got a clue what kit would have been used at that time, so far I have picked up 2 x mk 4 helmets, 1 x mk 6 helmet, 1 x set of 58 webbing, 1 x 351 manpack radio on a GS frame, 1 x S6 gas mask and 2 x NBS suits dated 1986/87, but to be honest I have no idea what of it is right. Can anybody advise me on any other kit, wepons ect that it would be worth looking out for? Many thanks Shaun
  8. Please dont get me wrong I love my little lightweight to bits, so far I have owned a S3 109 gs soft top, 110 FFR hard top, and, 90 gs soft top and my other car is a TD5 90 XS so I have a bit of a thing for ex military landys. As you can probably see see is a 12v GS with a seat belt bar and and the under bonnet tool box both of which seem to be hard to find items, the bumper is also the later type which is made to take 750 r 16 tires and the speedo seems to be set up for them too. So far kit wise I have the pioneer tools to fit on the tailgate 2 mk 4 helmet's, 1 mk 6 helmet, a set of 58 patten webbing, and a 351 manpack on a gs frame. I'm just trying to work out what's correct for the time it was in use 1983-1992
  9. Hi, I'm Shaun I have a lightweight landy built in 1983 (much smaller than a lot of the vehicals on here) I have managed to get a merlin report which shows it was sent to 22 SAS and spent all its time with them, Im trying to get it ready to show, luckly she is moastly original and in good nick so its just a bit of tidying thats needed plus the odd bit of kit to dress it up a bit cheers Shaun
