I believe its a Mk2 with steel action serial number 75c36129, and has two stamps that I cant make out, but look like a bomb or an oval with a crown on one end and something inside it. Im using it to stand in for an L9 which I just could not afford at the moment, but just out of interest I wondered if anyone was able to tell me anything about it's actual past or what the two stamps mean?

    Cheers

  2. A couple of years ago I was in a mates SAS range rover on our way to a landy show up north, we were over taken by a couple of lorries which sucked the car trailer behind us out of shape and flicked us over with a 2a gunship with a 106 recoilless rifle on the trailer blocking the M1 in rush hour. I think I have a photo of that somewhere

  3. Sorry Chris mine is an L4a3, I was suffering from fat fingers you, you should have the numbers from an earlier thread.

  4. Those photos are very handy thanks, I will have to take a photo of the contents of my small parts tin as I'm not completely sure what all the bits are:blush: But I have some bits not in the photos and to be honest I don't know if they even belong to a bren let alone my L4A2

    many thanks

  6. Ok thanks for that, I have the small parts in the tin do you happen to know the full length of the firing pin so I can make sure mine is on the right side of the law.

My wallet is one of the 50's made ones so I wonder why it's missing the cleaning rod holder, other than that is it all looking complete, I think I need another oil bottle and the barrel bag is for a MK3 bren but apart from that?

    many thanks

  7. Thanks Chris the serial number on mine is UE 65A4492, can I ask how you knew?

I will admit to knowing very little about the Bren in any form so can't comment to much on this one, I do however think it still has the Mk 2 butt fitted. But I will post up some close up's later when I get a chance. I think (but could be wrong) that this is ex Irish military.

yes this was from a dealer but they have now sold out, a friend of mine got an A4 from them too

  8. I got this through today.

Can anyone explain the modifications that went into converting the .303 to 7.62 also what is the difference between the different L4's?

i would also love any L4 related story's

    many thanks

  9. I was only there for the Saturday and had a fantastic time, I have even been court in one of the photos earlier in the thread whilst helping man the Military Lightweight Club stand.

  10. Hi, I have just picked up the EVGSA kit to top off a 5.4m mast, but there are no instructions in the bag so I cant tell if its all there or how to fit it all together, could anyone point me in the right direction please?

    Cheers

  11. Ok I cant tell you much, all I know is that it was picked up by a mate on his holiday's to the gulf back in 91, it has Russin writing on it and was picked up in a cleared trench system.

  12. Its in really nice condition though, i have been looking for one just like that for years now.

As for mine its old spec so i can strip it down and it looks good in till you check the numbers so will be fine on the rack at shows so it will do what i want it to and its a learning experience

    Cheers everyone

  13. Right, just got this off the web site of a well known dealer of deac wepons where it was advetised as being a Birmingham made L1A1 unfortunatly it turns out to be a bit of a mix of parts as non of the numbers match, I should have asked more questions but as its only my second deac I didnt think.

    011-1.jpg

The top part of the recever is marked as BSA if I remember the codes correctly and the bottom part looks to be marked with an arrow by the stock with a 7 pointed star above an 8 above that, and its marked S, R, and A on the safty but the switch wont go far enough around to select A

    013-2.jpg

However on this side the prefix is AD which I think is from Oz

    014-2.jpg

Also above the hinge and upsidedown its stamped 12Y then what looks like a capital D with an arrow comming out the top followed by a triangle

And the deac cert gives belgium as the country of origin, so have I got a pup, and is the AD marked part from an L1A1 or the fully auto support version or even the metric FAL?

    Cheers

  14. Hi, possably a silly question but I know nothing about electrics and how they work but is it possable to make an adapter which will let you run clansman hand/headsets on CB or even better PMR radio and if so how is it done?

My thinking is that if I could make or get someone to make some adapters up our group could hide the civi radios and use military headsets to give licence free radio comms between ourselfs if we wanted it

    Cheers
