Thanks for the tip, but I'm hopefully going to be downsizing from the GMC to something that will fit into a garage!

I've used the roadsure breakdown cover for my GMC. I had to wait an hour and half for them to arrive, and then they couldn't fix the problem (dirt blocking the carb). I then had to wait for a recovery vehicle to take me the mile back home. In total it was about 4 hours to get home, but they did get me there. For the money I thought it was good value.

Is there an undercoat, if so what colour is it?

Does the army still apply black stipes to new vehicles? I've seen a lot of plain green ones recently.

Are the black patches usually applied by brush or sprayed on?

We (who were there the other year to march in honour of those who took part in Market Garden) were taken into their homes again and even asked back for a spontaneous bbq, not to mention the beers! We were welcomed everywere and I have to say it made me feel quite humble as I had done nothing to deserve the honour except to try to keep the history alive.

Is the matt black special IR paint as well as the green ? :dunno:

Jim, I sympathise with you over the filming. I did some work as a rider for Sharmer's history of Britain series many years ago. We spent all day doing the most incredible actions scenes for the Battle of Hastings, charging along at full gallop and launching javalins at the English battle line, but when the show was aired it was all so strangely shot, jumbled up and badly editted it wasn't worth watching.

Right, I now have a repair kit from Rex Ward, but there's no instructions and the number of bits looks a bit daunting. :schocked: :shake: :dunno:

A lot of events are now demanding to see deac certs before you can take a deac weapon in. This is especially true on the continent, where their regulations are sometimes a lot stricter than in the UK. :schocked:

I did the Arnhem march a few years back and was speaking to a couple of the locals in the bar afterwards. One guy there spent his weekends searching the woods for stuff by hand (metal detectors are banned there locally). He'd found a couple of drop canisters only a few weeks before.

If you search the internet for e-11 blaster there's a whole range of replicas of verious qualities and prices. With the 2-1 dollar rate you might find one that's ok. :dunno:

It probably is something to do with the green belt. The farmers that I spoke to were fairly scathing of the council's attitude to their activities. They believed that the council would tollerate them running a farming business as long as they did nothing to make the place look shabby. The impression was that the land was primarily there to be looked at rather than used for agriculture. :?

No luck at all. :-( Apparently the council are cracking down on vehicles parked on farms, so none of the local farmers will take them onto their property. It looks like I'm going to have to downsize my GMC to something a bit smaller. :cry:
