    Hi dizzy-t,

Thank you, its not as bad as what the pictures show, it is mostly there apart from a windscreen frame and a passenger seat.

  2. Hi all,

Here are a few pictures of my 969 which I recently bought from a local farmer. As can been seen it is mostly there apart from a complete windscreen frame and a passenger seat. Does anybody know if the tie down hooks under the rear body would be an orginal fitment?

    Regards

    Jack

  3. Any idea of year of manufacture, or contract would be a big help.

Does it have a winch? Was it always a tipper?

    A quick look at 'the book' suggests the following possible ranges:- 428589 (a single cckwx 353 dump 1941), 4139626 - 4140925 (353 dump 1942), 4484953 - 4500783 (352 dump with winch 1942), 47327303 - 4736910 (353 dump with winch 1944).

The book only goes up to 1944 so any later production is not listed.

    Regards

    Ken

    Hi Ken,

Sorry I do not know either the year of manufacture or contract. However, it does have a winch and has always been a tipper. Thanks for taking the time to dig out that information, it was much appreciated

  4. Hi all,

Here's a few pics of my Dad's restoration on our '42 Ford Jeep. It took him 18 months to restore from a rolling chassis to road worthy condition.

However, prior to purchursing the jeep we were informed that the engine had been "reconditioned" which we soon found out wasn't the case. When he went out to fire it up the engine was locked up on the mains, after stripping the engine down it turned out that the main bearings were put in upside down, 3 of the pistons were fitted round the wrong way, 3 of the con rods were also round the wrong way and there was no end float!!

Moral of the story, don't believe everything that people tell you!

    Regards

  5. Take off the back plate, the impeller, the pulley. Push the shaft out front to rear. Use heat as required.

Pumps are still available new/rebuilt, generally with a core.

    Hi deadline,

after discussing the issue with Rex Ward and another GMC owner the information that you supplied would have resulted in the water pump cracking

  6. Just a note this is the later dash, with rotary light switch and no blackout lamp switch as this function is included in the rotary switch, the earlier dash with push pull light switch was a little different lay out.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi shopnut,

    thanks for your input

    Regards

  7. The TMs have them, but in grayscale. No a lot of color in an open cab.

The SNL-G-508 has probably the most detailed drawings... but other than OD, black gauge faces and white lettering not much color to be had.

Are you looking for something specific?

    Hi deadline,

thanks for the info, what we were looking for was the layout of the switches

  8. Hi Jack, i have known about the hard cab Airborne Tipper for a couple of years. There maybe a couple more in the UK. Yes my truck is ex Dutch Army, it was then in the Johan Dieffenbach collection for a number of years, then in the hands of another collector in Belgium, then to me. Being ex Dutch it has the same wiring as yours i imagine, extra fuses below dash on drivers side and a different lighting system from standard. If you need a copy of the Dutch wiring diagram PM me as i have one being sent over from a friend in Holland. On my truck i plan to leave the wiring as it is for the moment, that includes leaving the indicators on the brushguard, i see you have removed them from your truck if you do not plan to use them would you like to sell them ? I had to rob one of the indicators from a NEKAF Jeep for my truck and need to replace it, regards David.

    Hi David,

yes the wiring on your truck sounds very similar to ours. If you want all four or a pair make me an offer for them and we can take it from there. Obviously there will have to be postage on top of that

    Regards

    Jack
