  1. The Vulcan, doing about 15 minutes of very low passes over Kemble steam show, open bomb bay doors and full power climbs. (makes all the hairs on your neck stand up) brill show!!!!

    Alan.:D

  2. Short post. Anyone not had problems with DVLA? Anyone? OH come on ...someone?

When i first registerd Sparky, I went to the office in Portsmouth expecting this to be the first of a few trips, i was supprised when after looking at the restoration pictures and checking the chassis number they said "thats fine, here is a 1941 registration goodby":D, i guess this unusual but they actually had somone who did all the vintage vehicles, but this was 9 years ago.

    Alan.

  3. This weekend.

All sorts of attractions, some mill vehicles, (in service) we never know what may turn up.( last year they had 2 oshcosh? trucks with tanks on, no i dont know what they were)

    Helicopters.

Steam Vehcles, from rollers, to waggons, side shows, fair, arena avents, ect.

I will be there with Sparky, come and say hi.

All moneys go to local charitys.

  4. Ventured onto the road briefly tonight. We'll get there with the gearbox but a couple of questions

    1. Transmission whine. Gears 1-5 are (relatively) quiet. Sixth really starts to sing. Very loudly. Normal or something wrong?

    2. Steering. It doesn't track very true on the road. Seems to have the same wheel shimmy as everything else I've driven on Trac-Grips but you do need to "pilot" it. It tends to dart around. Given that everything is either brand new or just so it this normal or is something, somewhere horribly wrong? The only thing which can be adjusted measures correctly and the wheels are true.

Apart from that pretty much everything else works as it should.

Sounds about right to me, having done just over 3000 miles since restoration, the gearbox does sing in 5th and 6th at some speeds. As for the steering you just point in the general direction you want to go and hope for the best.:cool2: It does tend to follow the camber of the road so you need a nice flat bit to light your cig.:trustme:

    PS nice vidios.

    Hope this helps. Alan.

  5. A few more happy snaps. The lift pump is still messing around for some reason so it hasn't been driven very far yet.

A very nice job! I had trouble with my lift pump, the engine would run ok, untill you asked for power, then it would just die, there turned out to be a split in the diaphram, fitted a new one and its fine now.

    Alan.

  6. Thanks for the pictures, and thanks for the tour of your truck, it was good to meet a fellow HMVFer?.:D

When you took the pics of the sentinell we wre doing "engineering" on the valve gaps, these old trucks are a bit fussy at the best of times:blush: and things need tweeking quite often.

I had a good run back home with Sparky, doing the 40 miles in about 2.5 houres, give or take.

    Alan.

  7. I will be there but only as a spectator, i may still drive one of the big trucks to it just for the fun of the journey but i wont be showing, just in the market, potentially for a steam traction engine...am on the look out...

It will be good to see you, come and have a cuppa, or something stronger:-D, the navy usually has the kettle on.

    Regards. Alan.

  8. I got my camara from Towsure in Southampton, £99,99, but the conection between camera and screen is wireless, has enough range to get a very clear picture from one end of a pioneer to the other with no problems.:D

    Alan.
