  1. you must be in one of the few places that you can see the flypast from SE london, I've lived around Abbey Wood/Woolwich all my life with good views over the thames and have never managed to see one yet as they fly well north of the docks and Becton.

Saw Lightnings over back garden for Churchill's Funeral in 66, 50 year of LHR turned smack over my current abode, except for lanc and rapides which flew different route, in 97 , as did the RN 100 flight.

Even with Bins it would not be easy to see from a high point.

Really just jealous if you can.

  2. Can I just say that Tony and his son Tom met me and my son Martin today at Firepower to discuss if getting the museums 42/43 Chevvy quad FAT roadworthy is a possibility, as it seems a waste just to have the old girl sat in the back yard looking forlorn. The leaking steering box is just the first of the items to be looked at, replacing oil seals should be a doddle, famous last words.

So i would like to thank Tony and Tom for giving me their time , together with their enjoyable banter.

    Thank Guys

    Alan

  3. I am due to see Simon Dunstan in the near future as he hopes to do a new large book on the Centurion and he has already seen the 700 odd from RAWHS colln when I first met him, and feels that some of the views held may tell differing stories to those of the past.

  4. In response to supertrack I have visual evidence of new that Cents and chieftains starting off inverted in the jig then being turned right way up, also the cent turret line at Leeds was all turret ring up until the last job on it was finished

  5. Eddy it was done this way so that people who did not know each other or whether they can trust each other could still progress the transaction. BAnks have (or had) good reputations whichever country they are in so are good intermediaries. Paperwork should also include export license if required, unless they have gone over to e mail, but no one accepts a copy V5, so I suspect papers will be forthcoming.

Once you have the info then you can make arrangements for collection.

  6. I am now dredging the back of my brain for info on this as I used to do the odd bit of foreign transaction when in the bank.

If he does or does not have your banking details then his bank can use a bank of their choice and send all the paperwork to their head office or local branch, this should have the bill of lading for the shipping company stating details of container contents, shipping line, departure and arrival dates of stated ship, and how all is to be paid, as he can ship it FOB (Free on Board) same thing as COD.

you will be asked to call at a bank branch of local head office to accept and sign the paperwork which will need to be taken to the Port shipping office as proof of ownership and pay their costs at that time.

Any Agent you appoint can pick up the goods provided they have the original Paperwork and funds to cover.

sorry I'm a bit rusty on this but it should work along these lines

  7. Methinks the gent refers to the Dieppe landings from August 1942 with the canadian forces heavily involved. There were some early LST's involved as I lost a cousin on LST126(still MIA)
