  1. Keep a lookout for BRDM parts! I'm after an Exhaust manifold and engine louver motor. Failing that a contact who will deal in BRDM parts...
  2. Indeed. I looked like a tight fit, but I won't get you started on the 'width issue'...!
  3. Nice display by the way Neil, and nice driving getting through that wooded area between the fields...
  4. Did anyone catch the Sherman rolling down the hill in the arena backwards into a Stuart! It all happened very slowly with everyone in the crowd holding their breath waiting for the impact!
  5. Moving on to vehicle licencing, has anyone had issues when buying/selling a military vehicle, with the DVLA denying all knowledge of receipt of the V5 log book and asking for the new owner to fill out a V62 to get a new V5 to replace the 'lost' one. I am suspicious of this as it give the DVLA an opportunity to be awkward about registering the vehicle.
  6. That is assuming I have catagory C1,which I do, as I passed prior to 1997!
  7. OK, so vehicle weight limits only applies to wheeled vehicles, so my BRDM is ok but a OT-64 (14 Tonnes) would require HGV. As far as tracked vehicles go, the 'H' test is required in addition to a normal car licence, along with some form of road worthiness certificate. (Rubber track pads, lights, beacons and reversing camera I guess?)
  8. So there is no differentiation on vehicle weight?
  9. What are the Driving Licence requirements for driving either an Abbott or a Sabre on the road? My understanding is an Abbot, being over 7 tonnes, needs HGV, but the Sabre being around 7 tonnes can be driven with a normal car licence, however both require an 'H' tracked vehicle test to be taken unless you drive them on L plates...
  10. Yep, I have already spoken to the 'librarian'... I just need to pop over during the week to see what they have. I have a good manual and translations for all the controls. What I really need is a pass to get into some of the MOD off road areas around here!
  11. She weighs in at 7 tonnes, so ok on a normal car licence. Fully amphibious too, so I guess I need a river licence too! Loads of cool stuff inside, even a man portable single rocket launcher... There are things like a gieger counter, radio set, wire guided aiming system, nbc, hydraulic belly wheels (8 wheel drive), 2 or 4 wheel drive, hi/low gear, 4 forward gears. Spares are a bit of an issue. So far ebay stuff from a bloke in Russia has been no problem. UK dealers are not much help - don't know if they are on here, Richard and Duncan??? In the end, for serious spares, I'll go over and track down my own.
  12. Some photos of my BRDM2. The missile launcher has been taken off by the previous owner, but I managed to get hold of it, so that's the next part of the project. So far, it's been replacing belts, fixing fuel pump and learning Russian! It starts on the button and is easy to drive. I need some wing mirrors (Landy mirrors waiting fitting) and probably sideways looking cctv.
  13. Hello All. I have a Czech BRDM2 at the moment, which I am gradually sorting out. Looking for other owners to share info with. I'm also considering a CVRT Sabre/Scimitar at some point too.
