I am making some progress on my WDCO build from parts. Engine stripped down. Finally the rolling chassis is taking shape with girders and wheels on. Lots of head scratching in the process and a challenge finding some of the parts. I have a couple of questions for any WDCO owners. Firstly, the parts book lists Crown Distance Washers. Can anyone confirm the thickness? From a dry run I have used quite thin washers as per photos. Am I right? Secondly, I wasn't sure which way round the front brake torque distance nut goes on. I has different size shoulders each side of the nut. Which one goes against the brake place? Finally, i am still after a set of front brake shoe springs if anyone has any to sell?

Yes Ron it is Chris Willis. The thought of posting the brake plate and girders to Chris is to much of a stress! But i will have a measure with axle, brake plate etc and see if i can work it out.

Can anyone help me with information upon any front wheel offset on the WDCO. My wheel is to be built starting from just a hub so have nothing to reference whether there is any offset and if so how much. Any help gratefully received.

Slowly my WDCO is taking shape. Wheel hubs dispatched to Willis wheels for building and I've painted and fitted a few more bits to the chassis such as rear engine mounting plates and battery box. Girders stripped to bare metal and now in primer.

Hi Lex - Yes i went to Netley on the Friday. I didn't see much RE stuff except I did find an outer chaincase in rusty but sound condition for £20. This was something I was short of. There seemed to be lots of BSA WD M20 stuff for sale though which will have pleased some people! I'm hoping Kempton Park this Saturday might be more productive...

Hi Sipke Thank you this. Those are what I want. I have also another lead on them via this site so should buy one or other this week. My Progress - Frame and many cycle parts now painted and yokes, rear stand and a few other parts now bolted together.

Making some progress with project WDCO, stripping and painting the main parts. I have found two more sets of numbers on the main frame in different positions!!! Front brake plate has been reassembled. All painted in Matt Acrylic paint with a matt Lacquer over. the lacquer is excellent and when dry there is no difference to the paint colour/finish but the surface is much more durable. I'm looing for a pair of the girder fork handlebar mounts if anyone has a spare pair to sell???

This is my first post on this site. I am new to the world of military motorcycles having recently purchased a collection of Royal Enfield WDCO parts with a view to building a WDCO. This will be my third restoration having completed a BSA Starfire in 2020/21 and am 75% through a Triumph Trident. My purchase included a frame and crankcases from contract C/11081 and I hope to create a bike as close to original spec as possible but as a usable bike to ride. So far, I have spent time on sorting out the jumble of boxes of parts and managing to loosely assemble a set of girder forks and the cycle parts to see what I have and haven’t got. Since then I have started on sorting out the wheels and am currently painting the hubs and one rim prior to getting the wheels professionally rebuilt. The front brake plate was corroded and holed and this has been repaired and along with other front brake plate parts is now in undercoat. I plan to get the frame, girders , mudguards stripped and painted (by me) during the warmer summer months and then hope to start seriously working on the bike through the winter. I am currently on the look out for a set of front brake pads any condition if anyone has any spare. Should also say a big thank you to Jan on this site for providing information o the WDCO and identifying parts for me. I will try and post updates probably irregular as I go. I am finding info and pictures posted by others really helpful. I should say I am simply a DIY restorer/mechanic and am happy to receive any helpful comments!!!
