  1. This posting is a litle old now but perhaps someone is looking. Is there any record of the names of the survivors of this disaster-said to include 6 women. I am just wondering if the award of a Royal Red Cross medal to Mary Gaster in 1946 is in any way connected. The decoration was presented by the Governor of Kenya but investiture took place in England in 1948. The loss of the Khedive was a bad matter for morale in 1944 and was probably hushed up at the time. Is anyone aware of the names of the 6 women said to have survived? Ken Baugh
