  1. correct.the SR.LD.LR &SL all used the same rocker cover.the SL was the forerunner to the SR the SR was a great engine got a lot of lister bits& pieces if you ever need any.
  2. your engine should have a plate on the side cover that the injector pumps are behind this plate should give the engine NO and the HP these engines were used a lot in dumpers and generators
  3. the SR has all the cylinder studs inside the rocker cover the ST& HA&HR has two of the studs outside you can see the cut away on the rocker cover
  4. your engine is a lister JP4 the red painted screws are screwed in to start when the engine is running you screw them out hope this helps
  5. your lister is model ST 3 the HP depended on the RPM of the engine
  6. from the look of the radiator i would say the lister is a JPmodel if it runs at 1000 rmp it could be 110 DC set could you post a few pics of the engine
  7. Hello my name is John I joined a few days ago I live in N.Ireland I own a Bedford M.J & a Leyland Hippo which I bought a short time ago. I also have an ex military Lighting Plant.I have a few other bits of vintage equipment not military related if its old I like it

  9. Hi Peter I,m new myself and not to sure on computers.would you have any knowledge on J.P 4 listers driving a 110V D.C dynamo .I have one in a dismantled state it was laying in a hedge for years but all parts are there I believe it was for searchlights it is dated 1939 eve

  12. The hippo was built in 1945.I know nothing of its history but I,m sure there is some way i can find out . My bedford came from the T/A I am the first owner on its release from the T/A. It was bought at an ex M.O.D sale in Belfast.The hippo was bought on E bay in St Annes Lancs.I also have a Lister generator with a J.P.4 engine and a 110 volt dc dynamo which I belive powered searchlights during the war it was built in 1939.the generator engine is dismantled but I think complete. I hope to start rebuilding soon I will post some photo,s as soon as I find out how
  13. I am the new owner of the hippo it needs a bit of T.L.C but everthing works and it goes fine.I also own a Bedford MJ. I am not to good at working this forum thing so excuse my mistakes:)
