The Martian awakes. We managed to get her started after two years stood outside with no bonnet !!!!! The air compressor got up to pressure and the front brakes worked. And although we had no clutch she is now moved out of her muddy orchard and ready for the low loader to bring her home

Hi John that is interesting. The only concern I would have is that after I fitted spacers to my mini when I was 18 and the bearing collapsed I have always kept away from them .However there must be a calculation I could do to look at the extra load on the hub bearings, it may be that the over engineered vehicle won’t be a problem
thanks again

Thanks John, I am replacing all tyres so replacing with radials should not give me a problem. I will need another 2 tyres to match the four I have just sourced so will look out in February
thanks again for the info

I love the look of those 16r20 tyres. I see the air cleaner is the prototype one. Or have you modified?
-
Wow, I see what you mean, that gap is clearly hazardous to tyre life
thanks

Thanks Chris , I look forward to seeing the photos. I was concerned about clearances and also the aesthetics of the distance remaining between the two rear tyres. If you can supply any more info on the Cole’s crane rims that would be superb as I have just started working with a major crane company . It would be very much appreciated if you have a couple of side views of the Martian with the tyres fitted
thanks again

Hi Chris, loved the photographs. Is it true you are running 16.00-20 tyres on your Martian as I have just been offered some as my old 15.00-20 are scrap
best regards

Thanks to you both for this info. I was impressed with the overall look of Simons project and thought it might be 224

Hi Simon, I have been reading about your restoration. Superb job you have done so far. Could you confirm you have gone with Deep Bronze Green paint colour as that’s what they were initially

Hi all, has anyone fitted 16.00-20 or 395/85r20 to a Martian . I have been told that the TM 6x6 wheels will fit the Martian as they are both 10 stud wheels but I can find no evidence to support this theory. I am in need of at least 5 tyres so now is a good time to look at any solutions that members have. Also does anyone have the overall diameter and width of a 15.00-20 ?
-
Thanks both. Do you run 15.00-20 20ply tyres on your Martians as they are getting a bit scarce and I will need 4 !!!. Otherwise it’s TT radials
-
Thanks John, that is superb. I will probably wear the key board out
