  1. I've only just passed my test and looking around the cheapest quote I can find for a 1988 Micra is 3300 odd quid. That's about 16 times the value of the car. I checked to see what it'd be on my Landy for a laugh and every single company wanted £4500 and upwards. It's a truly ridiculous situation, hardly surprising that so many people chance it.

  2. That's a good point :D another problem I've been having is dust and dirt getting past the slave boots and seizing the pistons inside, one of them was rusted in solid and TWO other wheel stations were also jammed or sticky from dust. I wish the damned thing would just work, realistically it all needs stripping down and doing again from scratch. There's yet another job for a rainy day!

  3. terry brooks trains you in his scorpion, observations are easy and it has big mirrors for the rear view. I'd suggest a days training and you will feel confidant with the vehicle. Terry has been doing this for a long time and inspires you with confidence, he knows exactly what is required of you for the test and the examiners are well known from the local DSA office. They are dedicated to getting you through the test safely. I think terry charges about £500

    best regards

  4. Hi Loggy,

I fly microlights and all I can say is, go and have a good look at paramotors first! Watching them take off is a real eye-opener! :nut:. I don't think you need a licence so there's an advantage, probably better off buying a good second-hand wing, a chap I know who used to do paramotoring said he's often known people to buy cheap, brand new wings and they're rubbish. Even then it's still fairly expensive :-)

  5. We've put a reply elsewhere on the forum about this subject, dad took his test at Terry Brooks' place. It's ideal for the test because its a mix of a bit of private road, quiet industrial estate and a 400m of public road. Terry is a top bloke and the local examiners are helpful and dedicated to you passing. Because of the distance from home, dad travelled down the day before and stayed at the Holiday Inn just 300m from Terry's place. Let me allay anyones fears, the test is easy, you would have to be extremely incompetent and lose control to fail.

Best regards to everyone and good luck to you doing the test
