  1. Paul, provenance. Is that vehicle yours and are you the first owner since disposal? If yes then you have some reasonable certainty that it was applied in service, right?

If it is an in  application then perhaps it was for some safety directive that supersedes the need to be camouflaged and all tactical, perhaps helicopter operations?

The other thought is amphibious landing training and the need to keep track of vehicles in the event they get submerged in an underwater hole etc.

Can I reproduce your picture with credit to you on other platforms to see if anyone knows?

  2. There is the remains of one of these trucks here in Alberta, Canada. Not sure what body is on it but I think it was a comms or enclosed van body from memory. Seller had loads of vehicles all in the tall grass storage and all well absorbed by mother nature but all worth their weight in gold. Totally unreasonable fellow to deal with. Likely when he dies the executors will call the scrap man before the place goes for sale, so common a story.

  3. Tim,

I have become more aware of the genesis of your vehicle as I was aware of the Cambridge carrier our here in Canada and recall the pendant type steering controls yours has.

Recently I was shown pictire of another FV432 like yours that is still in the UK and has been in a barn for many years. The owner wishes to sell it to a good home and not a thrash about driving gig.

Picture are to follow, interestingly the data plate shows it as P1 yet the exterior hull looks all FV432 and it has a civy plate on it from years ago and that may even be an ROF civy plate.

Pictures and more info to follow in due course, contact me directly if you are serious about the vehicle

  4. Thanks for posting this. I was a friend of the late John Parker whose models are displayed. John and I traded Land Rover models for a number of years with me supplying items only sold in North America or with packaging specific to this side of the pond. It still haunts me, the phone conversation I had with his partner after I didn't hear from him for a while. I asked to speak to John and she said "John has died". I always wondered what happened to him at the end. If anyone knew him or can shed any light please perhaps contact me privately. A copy of his obituary would be gratefully received. I am so glad that his extensive collection has a home and will be enjoyed. Thank you for posting this
